Certainly not more

If they split i won't be furious either. Just under no circumstance can he start more games unless Cory gets injured.

i think you guys are underestimating marty, some of you are ready to throw him in the dog house like hedberg because of 1 shaky preseason game
- BDizzlez

I don't think any one is underestimating Marty. Fact is Schneider was a better goalie then Marty last year. I don't see Marty somehow becoming better at 41 or 2 whatever he is now regardless of how is first pre season game went. He just isn't an elite goalie anymore and Schneider is becoming one. Yea sure I see Marty getting games against teams like the Flyers because he constantly breaks up their forecheck by playing the puck but other then that there is nothing else he is likely better then Schneider at. No body should be mad or upset he isn't getting franked he had a long great career and has gotten old no amount of training can prevent you from getting old.

It'll be interesting to see what the league does with Kessel. Obviously in any other situation those are multiple game suspensions each. But he's a smallish star player that was attacked by a 6'8'' goon. At least there was a good reason for Clarkson to leave the bench. He's too good for a 10 game suspension though, especially with that contract.
- rmdevil313

Kessel's first swing is acceptable, the 3 or 4 after that are not an needs to be addressed. Scott was already tied up with 2 leafs and still was getting slashed then throw the spear at the end and i'd have to say that was a horribly classless act and deserves a serious suspension. He used his stick as a weapon...

I don't get why he could get treated any differently I mean do people honestly think swinging his stick like a baseball bat at a guy is an acceptable means of self defense ? He could of turtled. I mean if this wasn't somewhat of a star player I would have to think the player swinging his stick with that kind of intent would easily get 20 games. Bob Mackenzie already tweeted that he felt Kessel will likely get a slap on the wrist. Another thing is does anyone think if Orr had of attacked a player and they started using their stick like that Leaf fans would be ok with it ? Like (frank). They thought Maclaren was a hero for fighting Georges who is by no means a fighter. Only in the backwards world of Maple Leaf land is what Kessel did ok in any way

Leafs lands a magical place...I don't expect any different from them. They don't have class and there fans clearly love that fact. Stick was used as a weapon if that just gets a slap on the wrist it'll just be another embarrassment from the league. Wouldn't shock me though kessel is a star, plays on the leafs, and scott is a big time goon. Tell ya what lost all respect for Kessel after watching that, one slash is one thing the second one as scotts fighting two guys (frank) no and then to spear him while hes tied up... Are you (frank)ing serious? Probably the biggest female dog move to do. I have more respect for Avery and his turtling. Should be hilarous to see the suspensions handed down. Clarky's gone for an automatic 10 and who knows what kessel gets.

Yea (frank)ing Wendell Clarke jumps the boards and gets 10 games just to stand there holding Scott behind to refs like a scared little girl.

i think his puck handling ability is very important against a lot of teams and i think marty is also better in shoot outs then schneider

Seriously clarkson acting like he fights again or wouldn't get pounded by Scott... Been like 3 years since he's really fought. He decided to become mr.yappy the last two years here. Never did poop just talked the last two years was very annoying.

That could be. Im not saying he should only get 15-20 games but their cant be much arguement made on who the better goalie is right now. I get the feeling Marty will have the injuries to let Schneider get the majority of starts while Marty still gets to be considered the starter. Marty is a competitive guy and I think he didn't come out ready for what Schneider is bringing and it will likely take him longer to bang the rust off. I would be happy to see Corey get as close to 50 starts as possible so we can find out if he can play that many as he hasn't yet.

enough about the losers. Let's talk Brunner. So what type of deal does everyone think he gets? 1,2 or 3 years??

Thats what pissed me off the most about him netting 30 was he stopped being the player he was. When he wasn't scoring he wasn't doing anything not hitting not fighting maybe a bit of yapping but thats the only thing he was bringing to the table when he wasn't scoring and those are all things all Leaf fans expect him to do when he isn't scoring. I don't think Clarkson could even take Kaleta in a fight let alone John Scott who I do think is a plug. But if I am Buffalo I make a trade for Steve Macintyre lol because you know Orr and Mclaren are going to both be in the lineup and going after Vanek and there is no doubt in my mind that big Mac dusts both Orr and Maclaren. I would love for the Devils to get him even though he can't play a lick of hockey

I think he likely wants a 1 year so he can try and make in the 4-5 million next year when the cap goes up. That is what I would do anyways.

I agree think trying to get him in 60-65 games may be a little much and unnecessary since we have Marty still who can win games. Let Cory get accustomed to the team and east this season and being a starter then next year he can become the workhorse.

I think that is reasonable to I mean they want to get them each around 41 games so the 50 just takes into account injuries that Marty might have and he will be able to sit out more games that he might not of last season because of soreness or something because for the longest time he had to play through a lot of pain because Moose can't play 10 games in a row.

I could see that but could also see him wanting a one or two year deal so he can cash in after that deal. Tough to say he's held out this long without signing somewhere so im real curious to see what he eventually gets.

If the rumors of him want 4 million are true I think he settles for a one year deal just to stay in the NHL and build his resume then cash in the 4-5 million next year when the cap goes up. He would make a lot more money that way then signing a 3 year deal worth 8-9 million. If I was him I would sign this year for 900k -1.5 and then sign next season for similar to what Clowe got.

It's a risk though where as the 3 year deal is tangible and there. He could get hurt or suck he may not want to take that risk this year on a 1yr deal. Guaranteed money is always better then the possibility of cashing in.

We don't really have a scrapper except for Carter and Bernie. Dont want a useless plug like Cam or Barch on the team. Although i give it up to barch fought 3x the other night. Takes a lot of balls.

That does but I wish we had a guy who could win fights I like when someone sticks up for a team mate but you got to come away with the win. I like having a tough team it means a lot to me for whatever reason. I also think we could use a legit heavy weight for the odd game with the amount of rookies we could have come in and out of the line up this season and so a guy like Clowe doesn't have to. I think Janssen is a good fighter but he looked like crap in the Rangers game. It would be a dream come true for me if we could land a Lucic or Stewart those are my favorite type of players and there isn't many of them.
