I guess he just hates Todd then? - Nucker101
I'd also prefer a dedicated blogger (preferably a Canucks fan based in Vancouver) but HB is too much of a circus site to take such a moral high ground stance IMO. |

Funny thing is that Todd's in Toronto. Ian was in Calgary. Pete was in Winnipeg.
Ek knows that I'm available. They finally chose to put my blog on the front page. |

Well, mainly because I had to pass a drug test in my move from self-employment back to the worker bee world. Now, not sure when I might partake again. Kind of gotten used to not. - TheTaoOfSemenko

Sounds like the NHL has requested an in perosn hearing for Kassian. Get out the sand paper condoms and Costco sized vat of Astro-glide, it's date night for the NHL and Canucks all over again.

Here's another piece that goes in-depth about shot blocking and gives a little hope to those that don't like Torts' and his shot blocking system.
http://www.mc79hockey.com/?p=6292
For you lazy guys, here's his summary and conclusion:
Whoa. So there’s your difference between Vancouver and New York. The Canucks didn’t block very many shot attempts from forwards – New York specialized in it. San Jose, Montreal, Anaheim and the Rangers are kind of in their own world in terms of doing this
Isn’t that fascinating? Teams that blocked a higher percentage of shot attempts from forwards tended to see a lower percentage of the shot attempts against them being taken by forwards. I caution that this is one year’s data but it’s pretty easy to imagine a reason why that might be: you don’t just decide to block shot attempts by forwards, you do things in the defensive zone that put you into a position to block shot attempts by forwards. Maybe you’re pulling your players in close to your net, clogging the area in front of it.
Forwards, finding little space to make plays and shoot, might quite reasonably lapse into sending the puck up high towards the blue line, where there’s more space. This might lead to defenders shooting the puck more. So it’s possible, if shots from defencemen tend to a have a lower expected value in terms of goals, that there’s an unseen value in what the Rangers, Ducks and Habs were doing.
As these things tend to do, this leads to a bunch of questions. The first, and most important, is whether this phenomenon tends to repeat or whether I’m seeing numbers and inventing a relationship to explain the noise. If it is real though – and I’d have to check – it defines the debate about what the Canucks and Rangers did (and might do in reverse this year) a little more sharply. We can see definite differences in tactics and start to ask better questions and get better answers about whether those tactics make sense.
Seems a little promising for the Canucks. |

Not sure why people choose to smoke weed, what benefit do you get out of it besides the high? When I was in my early twenties I used to smoke it but grew out of it. If you drink alcohol everyday you are an alcoholic and have problems. What is the difference between that and weed? They are both an escape from reality.
Also heard that gaunce and bo weren't skating with the main team today? Only Shink? Can anyone confirm? |

You have more problems if you are a drunk. Physical addicition are not present with pot like with booze which is in a category with heroin and tobbacco there. The physical abuse on your organs with booze is far worse than with pot if you compare. How many people get violent and kill or harm people on weed compared to pot? Drunk driver and stoned drivers are both not good.... but drunk drivers are in a class of their own. I can go on and on, the two are in a class of their own. I speak from experience.... been booze sober 10 years now. was a violent hooligan who had his share of police chases.... on smoke... if a cop dont smell it, he dont make the connection. Its not obvious like a drunk driver....
As far as reality goes, its over rated. I like to visit there once in a while none the less.

I appreciate the response, I know the negative affects of alcohol was looking for the positives to weed. Glad to hear you are 10 years sober from alcohol but I think for people with addictive personalities weed can be habit forming as well. I have a best friend who smokes daily and he has tried many times to quit, just recently lasted 4 months which was the longest in over a decade. I would get text daily of how much better he is without it and how much clearer he is thinking. Now he is back to a daily smoker though, so there has to be some what of an addiction. I just don't get texts saying how much better anything is... |

Addiction can lie in 100's of forms. Thats why I was comparing the negatives of the two you mentioned otherwise pot would be no different than not being able to stop picking your nose and eating it.... even tho one is just gross and rude and the other is harmful,,,, which is actually the way I was comparing...

Yeah, but has stresses all of its own. Made my money, sold off my interests and now I can just kinda do my thing. Two weeks on, two weeks off, a whole mess of bonuses and options and a fantastic benefit plan. Im pretty solid with it. |

I don't expect much from the Canucks this year. Torts gets fired. Everybody gets hurt. We find out a few of our rookies can play. We make some trades for pucks and get a high draft pick. |
