I would like to see Eriksson play a whole game and see how he does. I am not convinced Luongo has his mojo and I think Eriksson could be better than Lack. Just my thoughts even though Lu is their man and Lack is pencilled in to back up.

I think he's been sent down.

Weber was good. Lack did better than I thought he would as well.

A nothing preseason game with only a couple of your big names... not sure wth the point of the game was for Van.

Couldn't have got much info from a game like that.

yeah, this was a good, unbiased and well thought out blog. Usually after a Cloutier blog I would cringe at the ridiculousness and after an Esplen blog I would shake my head at the homerism. It should be a fun season with two good bloggers on each side if this keeps up.

I actually thought the young guns for the Canucks played alright. It happens sometimes where the dominant team ends up with TOO MUCH time in the offensive zone and by trying to make the pretty plays they end up losing control. The Oilers did this far too often. Yakupov wasn't taking this game seriously and it really showed. But for basically a rookie/AHL team vs. an almost NHL team from the Oilers, the Canucks guys did just fine. The future looks brighter in Van than many thought.

Yannick Weber complained in Montreal that he was better then some of the guys that had a regular spot...Canucks fans are witnessing why he said that. I think he will be a very good player for the Canucks for quite some time.

I agree about Horvat, because I do not ever remember seeing him really. Hunter however...I think he could make the team if that keeps up.

The only negative I found in the game is Dale Weise who doesn't belong in the NHL. Slow, no skill, and a big mouth that he doesn't back up.

I wasn't at all impressed with Grebeshkov, who will likely not crack the lineup. THis Hunt guy on D for EDM really impressed though didn't he? Who is this guy? He seemed to start the rush, run the blueline, and make tape to tape passes every time. I honestly hadn't heard of him. Belov was okay, but looked big and kind of slow. Nurse was much better than I thought he'd be.

It's too bad Jensen got hurt last night, looked like an innocent play along the boards. Nucks have some good young players for the future; I don't see any of them being ready at this point though.

Kassian seems somewhat disinterested? I'm not sure what it is about this kid, but he should be dominating down low with his size and skill. Hopefully he looks better come the regular season.

Once again Mike Gillis is sending the Nucks into the regular season without a full second line; if he doesn't make something happen there before the beginning of November, I'm gonna snap!!!

Good blog, kinda nice to be able to actually talk about the game without chiming in on some troll bait comment.
On paper, the score should have been 10-2 with the team Edm Iced. I wanted to see more bubble boys dressed last night. Hopefully next game we'll see Belov, Grebs, Marincin and Kleff all play as well as Lander, Joensuu and Eager.

Didnt Weise start the chain saw on Browns face. Weise is the fastest Canuck in the skills competition. He's only a 4th line grinder, what are you expecting from him? I do agree though with the no skill part, the guy has hands of stone, very frustration if you expect any sort of offense out of him, he has zero shooting accuracy.

I don't put anything into the pre-season, it is just conditioning and mix and match experiments. Glad to see hockey back but the games mean nothing.

Injured blocking a shot. Welcome to the new look Vancouver. Torts is a (frank)ing idiot.

Meh...I don't have any issue with that. Kassian has shown that he's very talented, he just needs to mature and bring it with the big club in the regular season.

Torts is willing to give young players ice time if they give 100% and play their role . If not it will be a long year or off to the A . He did it with a few rangers

I'm not sure how a guy can support mike Brown and bask DW. Weise is a far better forechecker and skater.

Yeah that's refreshing. (frank)ing AV benches his young guys for weeks for one small mistake. Krieder, Miller and Co might as well be moved as they are about to feel the wrath on Alain

I thought Belov was awful. 2/3 of this roster is 4th liners and AHL players and I thought he looked rough against them.

I don't understand why a team like nashville doesn't offer him 2.5 per /2 yrs. They are horrible.
