I see Todd picked the 2014 Stanley Cup champs to miss the play offs. How does that work?

[quote=hillbillydeluxe] It was all so mismanaged, I can't understand how it got to where we are now - just poor management of the situation and Luongo didn't help with his comments either, hey lets trade for the guy who says his contract sucks!

Hey Booner,

Just to expand a bit more (can't wait for the game to start) I can't fathom how some of the decisions that were made didn't result in GMMG being fired if it is not because FA or family were behind them. I can't see how Luongo could have been named captain if it wasn't pushed by FA/family. Gillis seems like a pretty thorough guy, he has to know what is in the rule book.

I am guessing the Florida trades were all MG, but I am not sure. Some moves don't make sense, but I don't think MG is the second coming of Milbury.

He's just a homer, he's picking the nine teams he blogs for.

I see the 14th time in grade 1 paid off for Burn. Now if we can get Iggysbff house trained we might have something

More cap room doesn't equal a top 6 forward. We had a few options in the summer but those have gone. We'll need a trade to get a top 6 guy and it'll take a bit.
- AlexF

With Davy Crockett out we could acquire Morrow for 2.5 and leave the other guuy on LTIR. In the summer buy him out I think the cap hit would be 1.5 for two years.

Trade Edler or Kes and get back a key addition to the top 6

If we're lucky Booth will be bitten by a rabid skunk while hunting next year, then we can put him down like old yeller.

That streak of bad luck is waiting for my mother in law. Find something different for Booth

Morrow's done man. And more likely to be sitting next to Booth on the treatment table than skating on the ice.

Brunner was my pick but I think he's gone too (to NJ).

Personally I think the Captaincy was definitely Gillis. He walked in preaching bold never before seen moves and lived up to it. Goalie capt, sleep doctors and traveling dieticians immediately upon arrival. The Lu contract does seem outside of what we see Gillis typically do, I agree. To me it seems like the work or FA and of course Gillman who Gillis told us from the beginning would always find a way to keep the core players together. Gillman finds a way to keep Lu long term on a reasonable cap hit and FA signs off on it... it could be a simple as that....

I agree other then the captaincy. The Italians are pretty tight knit. I think the contract and captaincy went hand and hand. But of coarse all we can do is speculate

They should win, but keep in mind EDM has 1 Dman that was on the roster last year. Maybe 2 this year. Also Ty Rimmer, an undrafted goalie, is playing the same hnd half.

How's Horvat been?

Sorry... Oilers fan butting in on your blog

... I'm looking forward to seeing our Russian import from the KHL, Belov. Projecting him to lineup with another Russian, Grebeshkov. At this point Belov is a huge unknown... he had a superior reputation in the KHL. So that pairing should be interesting... Hope he performs well 'cuz he's the kind of big boy we need to compete with your mighty Canucks.

I can only guess, and wonder how much better GM's some of the contributors on this site could be. Just like the whole Luongo didn't turn down a trade to TO business. It was all handled poorly. Still sounds like there should have been more communication and still really wonder if MG went to Luongo or through his agent. And was that the first time MG talked to Luongo about a possible trade, "will you accept a trade to TO?", RL,"What about Florida, have you spoken to them?, I'd rather go there"... Almost like having to ask your mom if you can have the car and there are a bunch of conditions and you want to go right away cause the movie starts in 20 minutes.

If most of this stuff is on MG, he has to be on a very tight leash.
