And that's not even mentioning the deadline day deals MG's made (2 2nds for Paulsson?) for ineffectual players that cost us organizational depth.
MG out this summer? - AlexF
Is MG making all the decisions or is it FA? Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. I wonder.
I like Higgins, but not for 4 years. Who is running the show? Have to get away from long contracts and handing out nmc and ntc's.

I remember the big concern was we wouldn't be able to re-sign Raymond. |

But he wants to be an NHL starting goaltender, he can't have one without the other...I think he's coming to terms with that. It's a process. - LeftCoaster
He can retire from the NHL, go play a year in the KHL or Europe and then return to Fl. |

I don' t mind Higgins for 4 years. He'll be and effective bottom 6 player for the length of the deal. Maybe a tad high, especially right now. |

It doesnt look good for MG seeing FA publicly coming out and overseeing Gillis' responsibilities. FA going to Lu's house in Florida and doing damage control speaks volumes as well. FA wasnt a fan of AV when he fired Nonis but Gillis made the decision to keep him. I'm suspecting that the season before last it was a similar situation where MG should have fired AV but stuck with him one more season against FA's better judgement.... now we see the coach FA really wants here and he made that clear. If this team doesnt make some money in the playoffs... I see Gillis being fired. 1 playoff win in 2 seasons is a big fat fail unless you are a team going the other direction in their development.

I could definitely see Gillis going before FA fires John Tortorella. |

I guess in a few years the 2.5 will look like 1.5-1.75.
I like Higgins, just not with the thought of him moving up into the top6 and showing a little flash of belonging, but not really putting up the numbers to justify it. Same as Hansen. But I guess this goes back to Booth being injured and not having the right player to slot in to replace him and not being able to make a move to bring in a player because Booths return would put the team over the cap. |

I think FA was all over giving Lou that contract and felt responsible for it. FA has to answer to big poppa. I don't even know if Gillis wanted Torts (was it his first choice of available replacements?) or if that was FA too.
edit: If MG and FA were talking before Nonis was actually let go, who knows what plans were made for the team and management structure. I am guessing FA is used to getting his own way. |

I don't see Jenner as any more then a weak 2nd liner or great 3rd liner |

You look at what guys got this summer. The Higgins contract is solid. However with Boothand Hansen already under contract I think it was a bad signing |

Droulin. Likely on a line with Stamkos and STL
But as I've seen the oilers fans on here, line mates don't matter |
