He left the ice. He is clearly hurt. I gaurentee he misses the 1st 10 games at least. I actually could see a compliance buyout of booth next summer - Kaptainkesler
Surely there will be a team at the trade deadline that will:
1) have enough cap space from injuries to their roster
2) believe the past will repeat itself (only the goal scoring, not the injuries)
3) be tooling up for a run.
Maybe Booth will get more than 2nd or 3rd rounder but I'm not too optimistic. |

We cant waste our last compliance buyout on Booth especially if Lu craps the bed. |

I can't see Lu being bought out. Not without a decent goalie, like schnieder was, to replace him with.
I think Canuck fans forget when Vancouver was a goalie graveyard and 'Backup Bob' was better than Potvin, Weeks et al. |

So Booth was cleared for what???? 24 or 48 hours before he's off the ice again....
What a horrible trade this turned out to be. |

I just can't see FA paying out all that dough to buy out Lou. Just too expensive. Some mistakes you have to live with. |

Horrible is a bit of an over-statement, we sent two older players in Samuelsson and Sturm for Booth a 3rd round pick (Cole Cassels) and a salary dump. Didn't cost a first rounder or any draft picks on our part.
I'd like to see this band-aid gone sooner than later though |

A big mistake trading for him.
But not much was given up to get him, just stuck with it. GMMG will have to cut his losses if there is ever an opportunity, but Booth can't stay healthy enough to trade (most likely have to eat salary too) or be healthy enough to buyout in the off season.
I do miss Samuelsson, the only Canuck autograph I have on my jersey. But can't ignore the injury issues he had, but at least the contract term he had wasn't as long as Booths. |

FA already shot down that option. I dont think 1 year removed from his contract will change his mind especially with a couple of team/player options getting closer on Lu's contract down the road.

Volpatti is awful. - Kaptainkesler
Volpatti Mallet Weise Sestito are all useless. We haven,t had a decent 4 th liner in years |

Your probably right but having his divorse settled and having a better idea where he is financially might change his mind. |

I liked Setisto and weise is better then most give him credit for. And as I said, having a coach that will allow them to play with aggression won't hurt |

I was just focused on the words "buyout", not so much compliance. Whatever it takes to get his azz outta town is good with me. |

Yep. Unless Lu has the worst season of his career, he'll be here for the duration... |

I don't see too many teams wanting him in the near future if they weren't interested these past two summers regardless of team/player options. And I regret having to admit that. Maybe when his salary is less than his cap hit one of the cap floor teams will want him? I think when he stated his contract sucked or was terrible, it really hurt both the Canucks and Luongo. So much for being a poker player. |

I will take it you were not impressed with the one empty netter last year?

I can't see any reason why he would have a bad season?? He'll be great this year. With the occasional terrible outting which will make me curse his name up and down, but that's normal for a Canucks fan...isn't it? |

Looking at the surface it may seem like only what you listed.... but that trade got in the way of us improving later at that very TDL having made "our top six move already" in MG's own words. It continued last season and looking to do the same this season. Since the trade he has done nothing but complicate the roster and leave holes. His never ending injuries get in the way of trading or buying him out. He's been a negative the entire time between his play, his injuries, his contract and the media attention. The flip side to the old cliche... subtraction by addition. I truly believe the team would have better improved if MG waited and attempted other options later in the season. The slow start was going to happen with or without Gillis making this trade.
I dont see how having David Booth as a top six player helps this team at all. The team would be better without him and his salary. Therefor the trade was and continues to be a flop. I don't care if the Panthers won or lost or tied in the trade. This trade is screwing us over still. Thats all that matters.

Every goalie has a stinker or two. Sometimes it isn't even the goalie's fault, just the way the puck bounces.
If Brodeur, Thomas, Khabibulin, (just to mention a few) can all play and be effective into their late 30's, there is no reason Luongo can't be just as effective.
edit: maybe not Khabby, how about Belfour? |

Schroeder will make the team even if it the 13th forward. No sense in him going back to the AHL. He's not waiver exempt anymore and with the injuries we usually sustain, he should get ample ice time this season. |

He had a pretty average season last year, albeit in a smaller sample size, and I doubt it was entirely down to Schneider's presence. He's past his prime but I do think Torts' defensive system will improve his stats, just like they did Lundquist's. |
