I said they made it by 2 pts. I was wrong, but they did only beat 8th by 2pts you complete failure. If it was 3 then they would have been behind them.

That is thick, even for you.

- golfingsince

hilarious.

They finished 2pts ahead of the 8th place... but if you add 2 to 8th they still don't catch the Leafs. So thus they are more than 2pts ahead.....

Probably too complicated for you.

Detroit actually doesn't scare most Leaf fans.

Let's see you say that after a couple of seasons...

Once again, we had just been to the finals. This was under the assumption that we wouldn't be drafting 9th overall
- bobert836

Based on probability the next pick was going to be better than 29th. The 29th pick was the one to surrender. No other logic to that.

LA made the playoffs by 4 points.... A large part of that thanks to Bernier shining while Quick struggled to find his game.... If quick misses a big part of the season they do not have depth in that position and could conceivably struggle to make the playoffs..... but they do have depth everywhere else....
- jribout

Ottawa last year proved that a great system, with discipline and commitment, is more important than great individuals talents. As for the kings, Quick was struggling at the beginning of the season so his injury was actually a blessing.

Detroit is running on reputation. Their prospects are horrifically overrated, and their current team is not good. I don't care how good they use to be. They're peaked.

But maybe they would have won the Cup the next year. Then it would have been a brilliant move.

Yeah just like Pittsburgh and Crosby or Ottawa an Karlsson/Spezza/Anderson!?!
- Habsody

Yeah just like not reading the quote?!? He Said could. Did not say would. Sometimes teams have the depth, sometimes they don't.

Well see, alot of teams could challenge for a playoff spot this year, seems as if alot less sure things then usual.

Love how NO ONE is giving the Flyers any respect, all bc we had a terrible half of a half season. Doesn't matter that we've only missed the playoffs twice in the last two decades. Meanwhile Leafs and Isles fans finally taste postseason play and suddenly their teams are worldbeaters. All I hear is the same cliche line about the Flyers... "their defense and goaltending are a question mark, blah, blah, blah." Guess what everyone, the Flyers D and goaltending have been a question for 20 years and it never prevented us from contending. I get the horrible season is fresh in the critics minds but the Flyers will be in playoffs this season, I'd bet a lot of money on that. They have so much talent and with a little injury luck they're a 100+pt hockey club. Most everyone on this page will be proven wrong this year.

Ottawa at the top let alone ahead of the leafs is hilarious. What was that series last season? Didn't the Marlies just beat the Sens?

Quite a bit. And 20th was also an assumption. They were terrible the year before the Cup run.

Sorry...it was a terrible move by old Lou. The pick will be even higher than 9th next year.

Did the leafs think they would be drafting 2nd and 9th with the two picks they traded for Kessel? poop happens

This is what happens when people outside Leaf land don't place the Leafs 1st overall.

Take Cordell's list, take off the Caps and the Devils and replace them by the Isles and the Leafs. If Bobrovski can reproduce last year's magic, BJackets could very well sneak in
