The Leafs haven't had a #1 C since Sundin left so you'll have to excuse their fans for not understanding how important a piece it is to have out of your lineup.
- golfingsince

We get it, but Sundin wasn't that long ago and we remember. I mean, it's not like we're talking Canucks and Cups here.

And James Reimer.

True, much smaller sample size for him however.

where are you getting this information from? They finished 6 points or so up on 8th place. They were also tied with third seed Washington in points and were only 6 points back of the Habs and 5 behind the Bruins. Helps to know the goods before you try to sell them to someone who knows what they're dealing with.

It is funny how many people reference last year and say 'they just squeaked into the playoffs'....it's like last season didn't really happen for a lot of people. The Leafs were around the middle of the playoff pack and held that position through most of the seson.

Really, he's played on some poor teams, like the Panthers and still put up strong numbers.

His only really poor play is a part season in Colorado.

Anderson is a really good goalie. The issue is, he wasn't good last season. He was the best.

Dropping back to a .915 save% is a big drop where the highs of last season.

The Habs off-season was crap.
- RogerRoeper

But with the same core they ended 2nd right?

agreed, but there should be things on the offensive side of the game trending in the upward direction to balance goaltending regression.

Also, hopefully giving up less shots as a team.

I take it all back.

The Leafs are a lock for the playoffs and will undoubtedly win the cup.

Every team plays for the Stanley Cup, every year. It's just that not every team has never won one. That seperates you from the conversation quickly.

Interesting how Kadri is already eliminated from people's minds of being a #1 centre.

Philly D and goaltending are bad. Holmgren has to stop only adding to his already strong forward group.

He did it because he wanted a player that was further along in his development rather than an 18 year old. It was under the assumption that we would probably be making the playoffs and be having a pick in the 15-30 range, not 9th. Seeing as the difference between a player drafted 29th and one 20th really isn't that big, he preferred to have a more developed prospect who would ease the pain of not having a 1st in that specific year

What players are you talking about here?

The bottom line is that NJ had a magical run to the Finals and Lou should have been smart enough to know that he was NEVER going to be drafting that low again. It was a terrible blunder on his part.

Iwould say there are about 4 teams in the NHL this year that are a lock for the playoffs... even then a freak injury to an important player and even one of those teams could get knocked out

You didn't hear him. He wanted an older player.

Because Kessel isn't playing on the second line, and Bozak is his defacto centre
