our team is still better in every aspect except for the #1 C position.
- rangerdanger94

True for defense and goaltending in 2013- not true for ANY forward position except 2nd line center. Two years from now, provided we get any sort of goaltending whatsoever, this statement will be a product of delusion and/or denial.

i looked it up.

nash had a 1.47 goals per 60 mins as opposed to grabner's 1.52. tavares had 1.44.

i mean...if grabner was a better goal scorer than nash based on that last season, then clearly nash was a better goal scorer than tavares last year, and grabner was a better goal scorer than tavares too?

do you agree with that?

to further my point, while grabner didn't play 1st line minutes, that means he DIDN'T play against the opposing team's top defenders and shutdown forward line. while nash did.

JT>NASH>GRABNER. Interesting stat JT and Grabs combined make only a half a million less than Nash

he's pretty adamant that because grabner had a higher goals per 60 than nash last season, then grabner was clearly the better goal scorer.

by his logic, he also believes that due to tavares' goals per 60, JT is the worst out of all 3.

unless he's trying to argue that that stat only means that in relation to grabner and nash but doesn't apply to any other player?

i forgot that grabner has 7 30+ goal seasons, 2 40+ goal seasons, and a rocket richard to his name.

oh wait....

- rangerdanger94

too bad he did all that with another team....you'll be lucky to see 30 goals from him anymore. You're paying for his past performance, as usual.

No one thinks that. Grabner is more comparable to Hagelin. These other two guys are in a different class.

too bad for you guys that nash was on pace to score 39 goals last year in a defense-only system on a team he was unfamiliar with.

with an opened up offense and a year of chemistry with his teammates, i would not be surprised to see nash hit 50 this season.

you are 100% correct.

but your buddy said:
Go look at goals per 60 minutes
And compare their PP and PK times, offensive and defensive zone starts. Grabner was a better goal scorer last year wether you admit it or not

30-35 goals next season depending on who is his center

maybe.

my reasoning is that now that he's familiar with the team and the players and will be centered by the most talented center he's ever played with in a much more offensive system than what torts had him play in, he will put up a career high in goals, which means scoring more than 41.

stepan.

although i will say that richie looked good in his 1st preseason game. way too early to tell if he'll rebound but i think it's possible.

edit: and even the poopty richards last year might be considered his most talented center ever

Stepan is a 2nd line center and who knows when you guys will even sign him. No offense but you guys act like torts was holding the rangers back. I would argue he allowed them to overachieve especially in the playoffs. Torts was a good coach.
