McLaren or Orr. I don't care which one.

But we don't need two goons. Especially with Fraser on the roster.

I think McClaren will be on IR for the first week, maybe two.

you dont want d-men fighting.. their minutes are too important

and yes you do need two.. if you only roll with one all the opposition has to do is fight the one guy.. get him in the box for 5 or 10 minutes.. and then start pushing around the skill guys while the enforcer cant do jack squat

and no matter what you guys say about it.. we used this approach last year and made the playoffs for the first time in years.

it works.. dont be so obsessed with skill.... hockey isnt all about being pretty.

I don't mind Mclaren but I see your point. He would get claimed immediately though I think. Wouldn't make it to the Marlies. I interested to see how they sign Raymond and leave enough for Franson. I was thinking
Franson eventually takes the 2.5 AAV being offered leaving 800k for Raymond. Not sure another team doesn't offer Raymond more than 800k though.

It's another reason I think Colborne makes the big club.

At $600,000 a year, he's an easy decision.

My wild, fearless, nothing-to-base-it-on prediction: the Leafs trade Kulemin to make way for Franson. (AW-0)

the problem i see with this comment... is that they are still playing other ahl'ers

outside of 5-7 guys a night, it's ahl'ers wearing nhl jerseys.

- Rockhead_37

good.

the nhlers have proven themselves.. the coaches know what they got there..

tthe last couple of games will be the NHL lineup.. you just watch

dont want to start the wear and tear too early with the regulars

I was thinking the same thing. Either way though I don't think Kulemin is here next year. Nonis tries to get return at some point.

In my humble opinion, this has always been over-played in fans' minds.

Goons fight goons. Chris Neil doesn't fight Colton Orr.

Anyone think that this new no Tucked jersey rule has something to do with possible future advertising on the jersey?

agreed, but it's a waste of time having 8 or 9 games or whatever it is... have 5/6 games with the 30 guys you are actually looking at.
if you want to see how they other 30 are doing, take a cab over to Ricoh.... they are not showing you anything of value in the first 4/5 pre-season games. i'd say there is more value in seeing them in there actual environment where they are comfortable, you'll get to see their bad habits, which is really whats being assessed in these games.

no.. but when Orr isnt around Neil takes liberties with guys like kessel

all it takes is for carlyle to tap orr on the shoulder and say.. "take the instigator and go pound the snot out of him"

the other teams know carlyle can do this too.. because he can afford to sacrifice one since he has two

fact is.. up until last season the leafs were pushed around.. last year they werent. the evidence speaks for itself.

Leafs d-man Mark Fraser will wear a visor this season and in fact the rest of his career. His forehead can't risk another major impact.

What he meant to say was he doesn't fight Orr unless Neil is fresh on the ice and Orr is at the end of a shift.

As addressed by Travis, most locked positions on both teams didn't really try that hard last night. However, reffing is back to normal, with terrible calls on both side. Two of which frustrated me as a sens fans, was the terrible powerplay given to Toronto after Clarkson had jumped into the argument between JG Pageau and Kadri... that translated into a goal. There wasn't a great camera view, but it seemed like it was kicked in. Second, Bolland's goal was a classic goaltender interference. He had his skates in the blue paint preventing the net minder to reach out for a save. Either way, I know this rivalry is getting more real, and much more exciting. Congrats to Toronto fans, as they also have a very dangerous team this year.
- PtotheY

Exactly, Bolland was a classic case of interference, Raymond's goal was kicked in. Just ridiculous oversight by the stripes, hope to god they were slacking for the pre-season too.

As much as I don't like seeing a guy lose his job due to a slash from a teammate, I'm hoping that McLaren is sent down.

I'd rather see Colborne make the squad.

And since I'm guessing Raymond has earned a spot, I just don't think we have alot of extra roster spots kicking around.

- Atomic Wedgie

There's probably room for both. They will keep a couple of extras for press box duty who get to play in 20-40 games. McLaren, Colborne and Orr will probably all take turns.

I do not like Neil one ounce, mostly because of the cheap shots and his repeat act of tripping d-men on the icing call.
but last year, for the first time ever i thought he answered the bell on many occasions and he held his own in the orr fight.
i still don't like him, but i have an ounce of respect for him after last year.
