that sucks - Mapleleafs_91
yup. Dregger was saying they'll likely try to trade him if he doesn't make the team.
4th rounder at best I'd imagine, but better than free on waivers I guess. |

Mudman55 agrees with me

Carter Ashton and his porn-actor name lose.
and so does Knuckles McGhee
Posted by Knuckles McGhee on Mar 13, 2012 at 10:12 PM agree disagree
- Ashton with questionable hit
- Matthias doesn't like what he sees and comes to the 'rescue'
- Matthias fills in Ashton, although there were a few by Ashton that glanced.
and Here is this from Leblond28

Mattias gets the win, Ashton nothing to be ashamed of. Like his play. - poohcrumbs
Winning or losing one fight doesn't define him. Orr has lost fights on hockeyfights.com and we all know how tough he is. He's a guy that will fight. Will keep other teams pests in line. He fits the role well. I'd like to see more before I hang my hat him. |

Well Raymond is potentially a nice surprise. His speed alone brings something and you can't argue with the price. It's interesting how the cap has squeezed out some of these experienced players, but they can then potentially be signed for very little. There's a bunch of them out there with potential. Like a guy like Tim Thomas, who knows, maybe he has one more great season in him.
I hadn't seen much of Raymond and yeah it's not like he's probably a top six guy or anything, but to get a super low cap hit vet who could bounce back isn't bad. And maybe these guys suddenly having to fight for their careers, they're going to be battling. Hey it was kind of that way with Lupul, he still had a contract but he'd been written off, and he got much more serious. |

yup... which was the larger point. He's definitely willing to step up if needed, and he can skate and can hit.
Especially if on of Orr or McLaren can't go, he's the better option - defensively sound now too. Very well suited for 4th line duty. No quite as intimidating as the big boys, but not as much of a liability on the ice either.

If they could move Liles and all they had to add was Colborne, that's done like dinner...
He's not gonna make the team. Unless he's lights out over the next couple games, it's over.
Liked him, seemed to have a lot of tools, but can't wait forever. That's why there's no waivers - give him a shot somewhere else.

Pretty much what I was thinking with him. If you could give him and liles for a late round 1st/ early 2nd or more likely a half decent prospect it would be alright. |

ya..., I'd like to think they could sign Raymond with the money available now...
He's looked good, $1.5M tops should do the trick - he's on a PTO after all - was thinking <$1M would get it done. |

ya... not happening.
We're the ones dumping a contract - Leafs would be happy somebody would just TAKE Liles and the cost is they get Colborne too, and give us a 4th rounder so it's good and legal-like |

I ment the slash as an "or" not "and". Just drink a little more koolaid on my evaluation. Liles is over paid but would be top 4 d on a bad team. I dont think leafs management has given up on him. |
