ya but Gardiner is better offensively, and Ranger will insulate him. Gardiner will get more minutes than Liles, I'd bank on it.

plus I think they are more comfortable with Liles playing out of position rather than Gardiner... (so I should have had that Fraser-Liles, with Liles on RD)

- Big_Lightnin

Im jelly, will you insulate me?

As per Dreger: Raymond is Leafs property until end of Sept and could then sign with anyone he chooses, at well over $1M
- Colin Dambrauskas

Hope he sticks around for ~750K. Wouldn't hold it against him if he took a bigger contract somewhere else. Dreger also said he recieved an offer for well above what the Leafs can pay him before he signed the PTO, he declined.

he wont bump a d-man up in the rotation for offensive skills.. gards will get PP time but I really dont know.. carlyle never seems to be too impressed with him

where did I read something about Nonis and Raymond already have a deal in place at $950k contingent on whether Carlyle says he makes the team...
- Big_Lightnin

SEVERAL rumours were saying this over twitter, but nothing confirmed.

yeah..maybe..I don't have your crystal ball.

They only made it once since he's been here.

I'm not the only fan that thinks he is way overrated...sure he sucks up lots of minutes..he gets beat like a rented mule lots too!!!!

I would only replace him if Ranger/Franson/Gunner/Gardiner pick up their games, but I wouldn't give him a raise or sign him long term but hey...I know you like him and it's ok to disagree!!!!

- Garnie

It's not that... it's that he's the best they've got.

I would love to upgrade on Dion, but finding somebody better than him is pretty hard, and acquiring them is even harder.

He's a mile better than anybody else on the team. Finding a partner who can take the pressure off of him is far easier than replacing him.

He played top 4 minutes, and by that I mean more than Franson, in damn near all his games last year.

only 4 of the 12 under 20 mins, and 2 of those were 19+. WAY over 20 mins per in playoffs.

5 on 5 he had more than Franson in like 10 of the 12

He's not miles better, but I will agree he is the best we have. But expect to be coming in around the 8th - 9th spot with him as our best. I believe if Franson is signed and Gardiner another year older and Fraser having some confidence and Ranger back playing full time...Phaneuf will NOT be our best by the end of the year, and the leafs will finish 4th - 6th

I hope we get Raymond signed, and even with McClement there if we don't, we could have a dangerous 3rd line just based on the fact that they're all on contract years lol

It seems like Colborne is taking some heat to make the team but I like McClement on the 4th line LW with Colborne and Orr. If were playing a tough team, we can sit Colborne for McLaren and move McClement to centre.

The depth that Raymond would bring just filters down the lineup, with him, McClement and Colborne all able to step in higher in the lineup if there's injuries.

I'm probably out on an island by myself but I haven't liked what I've seen from Raymond. It's early though.

And some quiet time on an island actually sounds good right now.
