Zidlicky signed before kovy left - shvingter88
I personally believe Lou knew about Kovy leaving before the draft. |

Seems to me like the kids want to win & the vets want to collect a paycheck.
Time to get rid of Zids & Salvador. Maybe even Volchenkov, but with Merrill & Gelinas, you have to ditch 2 of the 3.
They're horrible. At this point Fayne> ATrain>Sal>Zids. And I'm not even on Fayne's sack like some of you are. |

He sure seems too. That's the main reason why all of those conspiracvy theories started getting spun. The guy is no dumby for sure. |

Barch is a joke if I am Lou I am sifting through unsigned tough guys once pre season has settled down. Janssen Didnt look good in his pre season fight either. I think I would be happy if we got a Heavy weight considering he wouldnt need to be in the line up every night. I mean Bernier and Carter are scrappy enough guys that you dont really need to have a Chris Neil, Shawn Thornton type enforcer who plays everygame. I would be calling Nonis up see if I cant get Mclaren for future considerations or something in the 6th to 7th range pick wise - blizzzard
Agreed on Barch. Like yoi said, Carter and Bernier can handle the role.
If the Devils want to be a 4 line team like the Coach said this week, can't have Barch in there. Also, no Kovy, who is going to double shift in. |

At this point Merrill & Gelinas look ahead of Urbom, Fayne, Harrold already, as well as Sal, Volch, Zids.
I know Lou will take his sweet ass time with their development, but I'd rather have those two sooner than later. If we roll with the same D as last year (minus Tallinder) it will be similar results. They just plain suck. I'm more concerned about the D than the offense producing goals at this point. |

Dont get me wrong I love having a resident tough guy but they gotta beat the crap out of guys to me you do the team no justice by sticking up for a guy and getting your ass beat lol I like be able to say yea you do frank with our young kids and star players but lately its been more of no one is afraid of the devils or taking liberties on devils players cause the guys who are supposed to scrap lose. We dont need a fight every game which is why I say Carter and Bernier can handle themself in a scrap against a team not dressing an enforcer and they are game but I wouldnt call them fighters by any means. I know I put way to much stock in fighting in the first place but still |

Do they need D ? or are they like every other team that says they need D lol. We dont need anymore 5678 guys we have a enough of them we need some 1,2,3,4 guys lol that is what every team who says they need D say. Carolina could probably also use a D. |

Tedenby, Josefson, Loktionov, and Olesz are on 1 way contracts. They would have to clear waivers in order to play in Albany. I can totally see a team like Nashville picking them up if they do get waived. And I will be pissed for losing these guys for nothing. |

Merrill will be a good one, ready next season, not yet though. He needs some of the seasoning that Gelinas has had. Gelly is ready! Need to move someone for him though. Urbom looks ready as well, and is a waiver risk, what can they do unless they trade? - eggnugg
My only complaints on Merrill is he could play his angles better on odd man rushes and rely and his long reach and he could shoot a little more. Both of those can be learned at the NHL level. I think he's ready this year, although it wouldn't hurt if he played in the AHL, which is very likely due to the lack of roster spots. |

Everytime we start to think maybe the Devils really have lost their touch and we're headed for a tough few years, this team thanks to ownership/managemant etc regroups and gets us excited and optimistic again.
Parise Clarkson and Kovy Leave, Marty's looking old, but then we grab guys like Jagr, Ryder, Clowe, Brunner, our D prospects all develop, and we steal Schneider at the draft in our house.
It's great I love it |

Waive Tedenby to go to Albany. I don't think anyone will claim him.
Same with Barch. While the Devils will be paying $600K to MT and $700K to Barch, I do not see any other options.
I think Brunner should be signed. - ChuckNJ
While I too hate wasting a roster spot, he's almost guaranteed to stay up just because every team likes to have a goon in the lineup on a given night. |

Can we, the fans, arrange for a piano to fall on Volchenkov, Sal, and Zidlicky while coming out of the Pru? it would solve so many problems... |
