I think the Read signing speaks to two things: 1) players understand the cap world. and 2)I think players REALLY like playing for this organization.

Say what you want, but the way this franchise retains players after their careers and the way the players stay in the area (for the most part) really speaks to the way the Flyers run things...especially for those who buy in to the franchise mentality.

If he did choose to return, what would be your realistic cap hit, assuming he has a pretty good year and ends the season healthy?
- JAKEw1234

Not sure. I wouldn't have guessed that he would cost 6M this Season. Have to see what kind of Season he has. Or if he even wants to continue playing.

I don't dislike Gagne, but turning his not getting re-signed into a country song is getting a bit old.

Read could've played hardball with the Flyers, or opted to test Free Agency after this Season. Where he could've gotten more on the open market. Instead he opted to sign a good deal for both sides.

Thats a good deal for the Flyers and Matt Read! Having players like Read that play in a variety of situations cannot be understated. The Flyers don't have enough of those IMO and this is a good sign.

I will however miss that 900K cap hit!

Was tested often & looked very good in the opener from what I watched. I didn't watch it all.

Just wonder how well London will do when they get all the other players still at NHL camps back.

They sent a total of 18 players to camps. Believe they are waiting for 4 to return.

very pleased w/ read deal. starting to think that his speed and heady 2 way play would be a good mix w/ vinny and simmer.

I took in Erie & Guelph. I won't be watching every single game of a Flyers prospect but will watch plenty.

Can we all agree this is the best contract Homer has given out in his Flyers tenure in giving Read 3.625M/yr?
So pumped. Our 3rd line is gonna be (frank)ing incredible.
I know they want Laughton at C, but for now he doesnt have a future at C for awhile.
I'd do a Laughton-Couts-Read line
super shutdown line

You don't have long to watch Morin, though. He'll be in the NHL by December

Emery at $1.6 was his best of the summer.

Couturier's was just as good as Read's. Emery's was a great deal, too.

Checking out Leier before I fall asleep, he's buzzing early. At least for the opener he's wearing an "A"

He's the clutchiest, isn't he? What's his NHL upside?
