I agree that I wouldn't be shocked if they missed the playoffs.

But you think it'll be because of the forward group?

- bradleyc4

If the Forwards don't improve defensively as a whole. That very well could be a potential reason why the Flyers might miss the playoffs.

Just curious as to why you have Raffl ahead of Talbot on the 3rd line? IMO hes done nothing to warrant that. I know hes a bigger body but still.....
- Just5

I only saw one game that Raffle played in. But I liked what I saw. Good hockey sense. I think at this point he is the favorite to play on the 3rd line. I'd go with Talbot myself, but we'll see.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

The Conference reconstruction has everything to do with it, much more than all of these personnel changes we are so caught up about every day.

- MrBigglesworth

Semantics (again).

"How well the Flyers play" is only controlled by the Flyers. League or conference structure has no bearing on how well they play. That is up to them and them alone.

"The Flyers won/loss record", and ultimately their chances of making the playoffs could definitely be impacted by the league or conference structure. The same level of play could produce a dramatically different results depending on the level of competition.

Spot on!

So the Flyers should concentrate on what they can control, and do whatever they can to determine their own destiny. As a fan, I'm more concerned about the personnel on the team, versus the new conference alignment. Right now, it's all about how teams look on paper. What team is a good team, what team isn't. Playing the games will obviously determine that. If you had told me back in Jan., that the FLyers wouldn't of made the playoffs last Season, I wouldn't have agreed.

As long as we dont put undue scoring expectations on Raffl, like we did with the others on this list...everything should be fine.

Personally if all he will provide is a warm body that can play decent in his own zone that doesn't really excel in one area, I want none of him.

Rather have McGinn who can at least provide a consistent physical game or start the NHL development of Laughton.

The guy hasn't played a single NHL regular Season game for the Flyers, and he's already being written off. I haven't seen much of him either, but what I did see, I was encouraged. He seems to have solid hockey sense, and knows how to play the game. he's always around the puck, and he plays solidly in both ends. I'm going to let hem play atleast a few games before placing a label on him.

Lets break down the division to see where we stand. Rank each team 1-8 based on 1 being the best 8 being the worst.

Offense
1 Pittsburgh
2 Flyers
3 Washington
4 Islanders
5 Canes
6 Rangers
7 Jackets
8 Devils

Defense
1 Rangers
2 Devils
3 Washington
4 Jackets
5 Pittsburgh
6 Flyers
7 Islanders
8 Canes

Goalies
1 Rangers
2 Canes
3 Jackets
4 Devils
5 Pittsburgh
6 Washington
7 Flyers
8 Islanders

Coaching Systems
1 Pittsburgh
2 Flyers
3 Washington
4 Rangers
5 Devils
6 Jackets
7 Canes
8 Islanders

Power Play
1 Caps
2 Penguins
3 Flyers
4 Islanders
5 Devils
6 Rangers
7 Carolina
8 Jackets

Pen Kill
1 Flyers
2 Jackets
3 Rangers
4 Devils
5 Islanders
6 Penguins
7 Washington

So looking everything over... When it all plays together I think the east will shape out like this:

1 Pittsburgh
2 Flyers
3 Rangers
4 Capitals
5 Devils

I look at it this way, if he scores, great. If he gets off the ice after every shift not having been scored on, Ill be overjoyed.

I guess JMATCH had fun at his eagles game last night....

LOL he won tickets. I wonder how much those free tickets really cost him in parking, beer, and food...

8 home losses in a row. That's pretty ridiculous. Historically bad teams don't even pull that kind of crap.

# 5 will always love everyone! My god was that embarrassing to watch.

The same # 5 that lost NFC Championship games at home to Jake Delhomme, and Brad Johnson.

I dont see them missing the playoffs but I do see the will be battling for the 3rd 4th spot in the Metro. I think that the Pens and Rangers will be one two and then after that its pretty tight

How are you going to be heated enough to facepunch a guy, but still civil enough to agree to take each others' hats off? That's just silly.
- BulliesPhan87

Stick to the code... well, they're more like guidelines.

Some body should develop/patent a helmet with visor, where the visor is easily detachable. So, if there is a fight the players can drop the visor, but still protect the head from a fall on the ice.

That's actually quite good, although I personally would put the Islander's offense above the Caps. The Isles have a bit more depth than the Caps, and one of the most underrated guys in the league in Moulson.

It's impossible to account for those kinds of things before they happen. Based on what we know now, I think that's a good list.
