If he was told to sit out a year and he kept saying he was fine week after week, the entire fanbase would be calling for Snider's head for keeping our best defenseman out of the lineup even though he was fine.

No sense in rehashing it now. It is what it is.

How are you going to be heated enough to facepunch a guy, but still civil enough to agree to take each others' hats off? That's just silly.

At the end of the day, I'm not blaming the Flyers or the medical staff for Pronger's career ending. Who knows how many concussions he's played through in his career? Career ending concussions are usually a cumulative thing.
- PhillySportsGuy

Yup. I agree. Very unfortunate. It's awful that Pronger had to retire, but the fact he has PCS that effects his every day living is really upsetting. Hate to see that happen to anyone.

I think hockey players can do it. Enforcers take the unofficial code of fighting conduct very seriously.

In the heat of the moment, that won't happen though.

LeBrun reporting next years Winter Classic will be hosted by the Washington Caps.

I'm guessing it will be at FedEx Field. No opponent has been named yet.

I know. I feel so bad for him. Trying to raise little children with constant headaches and sensitivity to light. I can see why it ends up causing depression.

Im guessing it will be a show down of epic rivals. The Caps vs the Isles.

Unless it's Flyers/Pens, no way am I doing another outdoor (non-alumni) NHL game. Too much $$, too much fanfare, piss-poor view, cold, etc. However, the mere (very unlikely) thought of being able to hit Crosby or Neal with a snowball...

Maybe. Penguins have played in two, Flyers have played in two. NHL has to give some other teams a chance.

The fact the NHL is playing 4 outdoor games this year, kinda waters down the Winter Classic.

It's to prepare us for the best inter-state rival in hockey the following year. Tampa Bay vs. Florida. The Sunbelt Showdown.

Seems about right.

I'd go if the Flyers were the opponent.

What would you guys think about a home and home series with the Pens at Beaver stadium?

The Rangers are playing in two outdoor games this year at Yankee Stadium, technically neither is the Winter Classic. I'm thinking Rags/Caps will be the game.

Flyers in 3 Winter Classics in 5 years? Geez. Give someone else a chance.

Bill,

Why is everybody missing the obvious here?

The personnel changes will have less effect on the outcome of this season than the idiotic conference reconstruction. The Atlantic and Metropolitan divisions are log jammed with the best teams while the western conference is not even close.

It's the first year, and we have to see how it works out. The best teams on paper, aren't always the best teams. No way did I think the Flyers would've missed the playoffs last year. And the Conference reconstruction will have zero effect on how well the Flyers play this Season.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

The Conference reconstruction has everything to do with it, much more than all of these personnel changes we are so caught up about every day.

Are you saying home-and-home just to make sure that the STHs of both had a chance? Because, if it's a "neutral site" game, Beaver has more than enough to accomodate both plus probably 50,000

The Conference reconstruction couldn't possibly have more of an effect on how well the Flyers play, then the personnel changes will. The Flyers hold their destiny in their own hands, same as every other team does. Come to the rink and take care of business. And control what you can control.

I think the Flyers will finish 4th in the Metro, but miss the playoffs.
