So you're allowed to round up with RNH, but if I do it then I get called out?

RNH second season: 40 games. 4 goals, 20 assists.
Tavares second season: 79 games. 29 goals, 38 assists.

Ya, you're right. Same thing.

- iknowbest

I'm not sure what number I rounded for RNH, except maybe his point pace, which is rounded for obvious reasons. I also never said there second year was comparable, I said there first two years.

Hello? Are you going to address my point at all, or just keep throwing up straw men?

Now with yak and schultz what do you see them getting?
- Yeti1181

6mil for Yak probably 6 or 7 years.

Schultz is a wildcard. He came here because he had the best opportunity to make money on contract 2. He isn't going to be easy to deal with and right now I'd dread giving him long-term deal. I like the kid, but he has a lot of hole in his game and is older than the rest. could be scary giving him a long-term deal.

Handing out this type of money to a kid who is coming off a 4 goal season and has played 100 games in the NHL is ridiculous.
- iknowbest

76 points in 102 games (one of the two seasons he played in was a shortened season)... You're right, horrible contract . What did you think of the Landeskog deal? Hate that one too?

I guess the concept of bridge contracts is inexistant in Edmonton, good on Nonis for getting Kadri at a reasonable price.

No rather spend the bank on bozak....

Aha, brilliant logic.

"You had a good rookie year! ... Then regressed horrendously and suffered some serious injuries... Which we would love to reward you for!"

Anyone else think Chicago spent too much on Crawford? I would have won a cup playing behind their D.

Again, I meant McDavid. Stamkos was absurdly hyped, I think your memory is off there. He was the clear #1 long before the draft. Hall and Tavares had moderate hype, also clear #1s in their draft year.

Mybe it was Tampa's hype, but Stamkos was all over the place.

- Blackstrom2

Ah I see.

I remember Stamkos being billed as overhyped when Tavares came along during the draft and Stamkos had a slow first season. Many people were saying Tavares was as good or better.

Time proved the original hype correct tho.

Which brings us back to this thread. If Hopkins lives up to his Hype, 6 mill will be a steal.

Outside of Gagner pretty much all those players are getting what they are intitled to.

So you don't like top young players being signed to huge contracts right away? Thank god that didn't happen to Kane and Toews. Gotta love their bridge contracts.

Again who cares ,They are locking up their young core and moving forward with it for better or worse.Nobody else in FA wants to take edmonton,s money so why not give it to a high draft pick that has some very good potential

Kane and Toews led the Hawks to a Stanley Cup in the last year of their rookie contracts. If RNH can lead the Oilers to a Cup and pick up a Conn Smythe along the way this season, then by all means, pay him $6 million a year.

It's what they should be earning,I doubt Dubnyk and Petry can make a case to earn 4-5 millions on long term deals.
