Please tell me how...
Tavares after 3 years was better than Hall after 3 years
Tavares after 2 years was better than RNH after 2 years
Tavarers after 1 year was better than Yakupov after 1 year
Please tell me... I would love to hear this... - laughs2907
why am I going to keep responding to you when you ignore what I type and continue to make laughable statements?
Start responding and I'll do the same, otherwise you're wasting my time and not worth the effort.

Nice generalization... How is Yak a threat to leave? Were you talking to him? Oh he's Russian!!! Obviously he will leave if he doesn't get what he wants... - laughs2907
I was wrong. He'll just take whatever money they tell him to take. |

because the Isles don't have much cap room this year and the cap is going up? rofl. New building, best tv contract, our only problem at this point is that our owner is a wingnut.
Look - I love the Oilers young talent. I do, I'm not saying RNH is a bad player, overrated player or won't be a good player. I disagree with the length and the amount of the contract - at this time. I believe they could have signed him during the season to this deal if he showed he could continue to improve and even next offseason. They threw a lot of money at a guy who hasn't scored 20 goals while playing with 1st overall draft picks.
It wasn't necessary to do this yet. - Isles_since_6
WTF are you talking about? I was talking about the major pro of RNH NOT signing a bridge contract. I don't want to discuss the Islanders. *YAWN* |

Supporting cast had nothing to do with that I suppose. - laughs2907
yet it has nothing to do with it when you make comparisons about JT? rofl
you're a peach. |

Another contract making John Tavares' $5.5M per year cap hit look so delightful. - isles10289
Luongo at 5.3 is now a steal. |

Yeah, Boyes was terrible before joining Tavares. Moulson was no slouch either... He put up great numbers in the AHL, and showed great promise when coming to the NHL... Not to mention that both players were/are also older/more mature than the guys RNH play with. - laughs2907
Sound like an Islanders conversation to me. One you claimed you didn't desire. hmm...credibility...-5 |

how exactly is Tavares overrated? - Isles_since_6
Because his numbers (relative to the year played) are no better than any of the Oiler's first overall picks. |

It's a bit of a risk but odds are he'll be a star and it'll end up being a cheap cap hit in the long run. |

He will miss anywhere from 1-4 weeks... Wow. Rip that contract up already! |

It's a risk now.... steal like in less then yr, it is a calculated risk made by the organization. Hall is a Steal as of today, RNH is the real deal. there will be no 8 mil guys.
Tavares = Hall; but a centre and centre position is harder to fill.
the contract is a tiny bit big, but having all our stars around 6 mil is a premise that all oiler fans can accept |

Are you suggesting the Oilers should lock up Boyes and Moulson to $6million/year so that RNH has quality linemates like Tavares? Maybe you can trade Hall and Eberle for them. - golfingsince
Boyes was a vet when he joined the Islanders... He had put together many successful years, and was more mature than Hall or Ebs... Hall and Ebs will be better than both Boyes and Moulson (probably are at this point) but you have to consider the years we're talking about here. |

Tavares 202 pts after 3 years, Hall - 145
Tavares 121 pts after 2 years, RNH - 76
Tavares 54 pts after 1 year, Yak - 31
I'm sure you wanna talk about PPG pace, but they gotta play the games for their points to count. And your guys have had real trouble staying on the ice. |
