There are rumors I am looking into that suggest the Penguins are closer to being cap compliant than what the current information out there suggests.
- Ryan_Wilson

Yes, I'd heard that. Supposedly Jason Botteril feels that they can manuever around a bit easier where they stand right now. Haven't heard much else though.

How about Patrick Roy ranking above 3 active coaches who have coached NHL games, two of which are veterans.

System definitely helps: consider Thomas as well. TIO also jumps off the page for Rask. He's certainly no slouch but let's see how he handles a full slate of games with a more than likely unreliable backup. I'm interested to see how he will physically hold up. He had a groin injury last season but Khudobin could spell him. Not sure he's so lucky now.

I doubt Malkin is too unhappy with Neal, they play pretty well together. Crosby and Dupuis...maybe. But if true, I doubt the Pens would have dumped $4mil on dupuis for 4 yrs and added Letang and Scuds if Sid was so unhappy. Dupuis probaly would have walked if he knew his linemate hated him.

Dumoulin's injury sounded minor, but Bobby Farnham was in a boot leaving the game the other night.

Is camp like the regular season where an injured player can't be sent down?

I'm pretty sure Kunitz-Crosby-Dupuis are our coneheads. Have been for the past few years...on and off.

I agree with Gunner. If there was anything...which I doubt...it was probably about some schemes. Maybe it most something with Iginla or Morrow. They both seeed low key about their roles though.

Yeah, Im not a huge Duper fan, Ill give him this season though.....but Im sure Iginla was not too pleased with with riding shotgun to the rest of the team after hes been a superstar his entire career.

Iginla was the one who wanted to shoe horn his way onto the Penguins roster even though their RW depth screamed we don't need another one.

There's probably 9 guys who's opinions actually matter. And, it would seem those guys are all playing with the guys they want to play with.

One thing is certain, they all seem to be signing "life" type contracts so somebody has to be happy.

If I were a Pittsburgh Penguins player I would be upset with Ray Shero for wasting all those assets at the deadline to bring in Murray, Morrow and Iginla. (Edit: and then let them walk away as UFAs for nothing)

This franchise would be a lot better off if Shero hadn't spent all that just to get swept by Boston.

I've never, ever heard a player complain about a team trading draft picks. That's ridiculous. The Morrow/Morrow trade was not good, but I hardly think the current players lost a second of sleep over a guy they've only met in a couple of camps.

Better think of something else....

I can't wait to hear Scott Howson's feelings on the Pens locker room. Probably something to the tune of, "I think they should trade a solid scoring winger, some good draft picks, and a chance to draft the next Ron Francis for hockey superstar Jack Johnson."
- BulliesPhan87

Wait, I thought your fourth line center was already the next Ron Francis?

I am pretty pumped for the season to get underway. I haven't been keeping up on the interviews/stories of this preseason recently. Has Bylsma mentioned how he plans on using our goalies? 60/40?

Just the generic statement that Fleury is still their guy and that they have the best goalie tandem in the NHL.

Shero needed to add a Brendan Morrow type and a Doug Murray type at the deadline. They didn't need to trade for Iginla. We already had the best power play in the league. Give me the first round pick back in that deal and I'd be happy. I really don't care about the middling prospects that went in that deal. With the cap coming down, we couldn't afford to resign them. They were brought in as rentals and Shero knew this before hand.

Thanks. It will most likely be play it by ear situation. Sucks we won't know the answer to whether Fleury has righted the ship or not until April.

Let's wait and see the end result of Morrow v. Morrow. Not saying we got an advantage here by anymeans, but I don't think Shero trades Joe Morrow for an older Morrow that was brought in as a rental without a reason. He slipped in the eyes of management. You have to wonder ... Joe Morrow has already been traded by Dallas too.

I agree , why would this come out now ? This 'supposedly ' happened like 3 months ago. It's just pointless drivel , he wanted attention for saying it. I'm interested to see exactly what the Pens do to get under the cap , I for one think they might do something that surprises everyone , they only have a little while left to do it.

I love Fleury and Vokoun but that sort of statement makes me think Bylsma is moonlighting at a Firestone tire dealer.

Honestly though, as fas as the regular season is concerned: who can say he's off base?

Rask needs to give me more than one very good year to put him third on that list.

They could have did without Iginla, but the only real asset that they wasted was a late first round pick. You think any current player cares about a draft pick that they won't have a chance seeing on the roster for another few years (if they even pan out)?

I provided the numbers of goaltenders for the past 5 years, he is 2nd overall.
