this is just how it works. guys who are 22, stuck in the minors and unlikely to play any kind of role with the big club always get sent down before the recent first-round stud because the team wants more time to evaluate the young kid. exact same scenario when Montreal sent Leblanc down yesterday and hung on to guys like McCarron and Collberg. when a guy is heading into his third year in the minors without having made a peep in the NHL, the big club starts to shift their focus and give up on the guy.
