Hopefully it translates well into games too.

It all comes down to defense/goaltending.

Much like the habs, if the defense doesn't hold up, we're (frank)ed.

Are Raymond and Orr injured or something? I don't see them on the leafs roster.
- Domaju

Orr had some minor injury and Raymond isn't under contract, but it's being rumoured that he will be offered a contract.

Sooooooooo Monsieur Marty........ What is your honest take on the Habs this year with the new division format.

Take the homer glasses off and tell us how what you think of their chances.

The defense sucks.

Balanced scoring, poor defense, uncertain goaltending.

If Price blows, they won't make the playoffs.

Boston, Pitt, Detroit get in IMO.

After that the east is a complete crap shoot... Lots of parity.

Both teams scored at a high pace last season (habs finished third and Leafs sixth in that regard) but were average/middle of the pack in the goals against category.

If they don't improve that aspect (GA), it'll cost them over an 82 games schedule.

How does the playoff format work this year again? Is it the top 3 from each division and 2 wild cards?

Without a doubt. That said, both teams made the playoffs last year so the expectations have to be higher this year. If either team plans on getting beyond the first round, the GA you mentioned will need to be seriously improved.

I think both teams are an injury away from completely falling apart.

Think, Phaneuf or Subban being injured for an extended period of time... Jesus, that wouldn't be pretty.

It seems fairly safe to say Colborne would be that guy, especially considering they played him in the playoffs last season and the fact he would have to clear waivers this year if they plan on demoting him to the AHL.

Not sure I like that format. I liked the fact that no matter the division the top 8 teams in the conference made it.

Yeah

East has 16 teams too.

14 in the west.

Not exactly fair. Oh well.

I was wondering the other day, if from a mathematical point of view, it was indeed the case.

I suck at maths, btw.

Franson would suddenly have a big leverage boost
