Apparently Jonny looked great yesterday. Maybe we see him get 50 plus goals this year. Heck maybe 60 plus

Yes he is apparently he cut his leg, but it had nothing to do with that hit.

Can you imagine if this lineup will look like on season opener?

Moulson Tavares Clutterback
Bailey Nielsen Okposo
Grabner Nelson Strome
Mcdonald Cizikas Martin

Bench Bouchard, Lee

Hamonic Reinhart
Macdonald Viynosky
Donovan Strait

- ISLES1119

I still think the Lineup is going to look something like this...

Moulson - Tavares - Bouchard
Bailey - Nielsen - Okposo
Grabner - Regin/Nelson - Clutterbuck/McDonald
Martin - Cizikis - McDonald/Clutterbuck

Visnovsky - Donovan
Hamonic - MacDonald
Strait - Hickey

Nabokov
Poulin

Carkner, Finley, Boulton

- If Regin is the 3rd line center, then Nelson will also start a Bridge but will be called up when Regin gets hurt.
- Strome and Lee will be at Bridge... Strome will prob be one of the first called up when needed.

This teams lineup is pretty much set barring injuries... Going to be hard for that many rookies to break in at once.

The forward lineup looks great, I just hope KO doesn't start off slow again.

I still dont get why people read into preseason games...

Its a chance for goalies to see some action and get use to game-scenarios, the forwards to get some chemistry and shake the rust off their game-playing stickwork, and the defense to get their positioning on par.

Junior & AHL guys are the only ones I care about as if they truly stick out they may crack the roster...as in DONOVAN. He performed well above the rest of the junior/AHL defensemen.

He has earned his spot, the rest need to keep working at it.

That is all.

- kcNYI

In one sentence you say you don't know why people read into preseason games and then you say Donovan has earned his spot after one?

i dont care if isles win or lose preseasons game. its the observations that make me worried.

Poulin and Nilsson were both terrible and Nabby got lit up for 4 goals.
Also in the game that streamed with KO squad. I turned on game after Grabner scored and it felt like 40 mins of hockey before the isles had another shot on net.

what doesnt worry me is JT, Moulson and Grabs scored as you would expect.

So bottomline - If Poulin/Nilsson can't help Nabby it doesnt matter how good our offense is.

As for our future- the thought of what we have on the come is amazing.
Strome, Nelson, Reinhart, Pulock alone are going to be 4 incredible future isles

The opening night lineup will not look like this. Strome and Nelson are going back to Bridgeport. So is Lee. Reinhart is going back to Edmonton or possibly Bridgeport. PMB was not signed to be a spare part. Clutterbuck is not a top line winger.

Where do you guys think Strome begins the season (or plays most of the season), at center or on the wing?
- Kaymondel

In Bridgeport on the wing to acclimate himself to the spot so when he is called up he'll be more familiar with wing, where he will be asked to play on the Isles.

Griff can't go to the Ahl yet it's NHL or juniors only

Then Junior it is. He's not going to be rushed. The isles are going to bring all these young "D" along slowly and let them develop. This is not an organization that needs to rush prospects to the NHL anymore due to a dearth of talent or need to reach the salary floor.

Forget about the games last night. Lets talk about what's truly important: Where in the world is RDP going to wind up? Has anyone heard any rumors about what might become of him? Is he going to get another shot or is he destined to play in a roller hockey league on Long Island?

The observations are meaningless after a split club scrimmage as well. No one will be made or broken by those matchups. It's the day to day camp activities that will ultimately decide where guys like Strome, Donovan, Nelson etc end up. Last night likely had NO bearing on anything considering these guys have just started skating.

As for the goalies, was Nilsson really that bad? I had heard he was 'okay' and couldn't be faulted for any of the goals.

Given the steady influx of dmen we have coming, Griffin will not only finish his junior career but probably spend a year or so in the AHL after that. The blueprint is set with guys like Donovan. The team has a strategy and timeline they consider the 'mold' for developing these guys now.

Preseason Hockey? It's even more meaningless than preseason football....
I would read far more into the practices than this first set of scrimages...

My boss doesn't get shy I got tickets for the Brooklyn game.

He says 'Play offs in hockey is the REAL season. Regular season is pre-season. And pre-season is pre-pre-season.'

I'm only going because its first game in Brooklyn and is quicker for me to get to than NVMC.
