Has anyone come to any conclusions on who the goaltending tandem will be to start the year? Has anyone stood out more than the others?

I thought they all looked a bit shaky....McDonald is the one I expected to become the starter, but he looked a little jittery and had some problems tracking pucks from what I saw of camp. Ramo let in some softies as well....

But I think Colin probably has it right at least to start the season.

Do you mean for the Playoffs? Or for the Cup?

I know that you are from LA and probably don't know shi t all about hockey, but if you think the Flames are going to settle on making the playoffs you are sadly mistaken. It's cup or bust this year, especially with all of the young talent they have. Why else would they bring in Burke?

Im going with default with respect to experince...Ramo has an edge on Berra in terms of experience and theyre both playing quite good. Ortio, though playing very good, is just a little too young so let him develop. Right now its a toss up between Ramo and Berra, but I give the edge to Ramo as games progress.

No one has really stood out so I predict the dreaded 3 headed monster of Ramo, Berra and Mac in the NHL. Ortio and Brossoit will sart in the A until some one stands out between the 1st 3.

I think they should just play the whole season as a split squad....because when they put those 2 teams from last night together you're right......WORLD DOMINATION!!!!

Two preseason games left, I believe Ramo is getting the next start likely leaving Berra with the last. Mac slotted as a roster spot...given the amount of goalies right now I could see Berra being moved for something worth while..hes got some promise in him but I think Ramo is the guy the Flames roll with. Seems a little more confident in his crease for me I guess.

size doesnt ALWAYS matter OG ...except for in the bedroom, because short blankets are terrible in the winter on your feet.

Ramo picked up pucks well. Robbed a guy on a 2 on 0. Moved side to side very quick.
He came out a bit on shots as well. I expected him deeper in his net the whole game.

He looked calm and at home.

His biggest mistake was thinking the national anthems were done after the American one. I laughed when he went back and started getting ready... only to look sheepish as the Canadian anthem came on.

Also, has Cammalleri played at all? I watch the highlights every night and have yet to hear his name in any conversation...

I'm surprised Poirier has been sent back to junior already I was hoping he got a 9 game stint. Oh well I'm sure he'll end up being the steal of the draft and have a more successful career than Shinkaruk!

Colin was right about Hanowski being cut.

Cundari was also cut which is a bit of surprise. Not that i thought he would make the team, but i thought they would look at him more.

He played the first game against Edmonton here in Calgary. He scored the second goal.

Poirier has room to grow and multiple things to work on. His hands and speed are obvious assets but he didn't look as strong as others on the ice. I figured he would get sent down right away for sure.

He's played twice so far and yeah I too was a little shocked to see certain guys get cut like Poirier. Figured he earned an extra few games, it's not like he needs to start camp with the Heat or anything.

It seems a lot of your assumed cuts were not so. Specifically, it does feel like you didnt want Knight to get a fair shake. With his age and the trade cost (not to mention his actually scoring) he would be best served making it to the last cut. Apologies to B Jones but I'd rather have a guy with a higher ceiling given a chance.
