That may be, but he's reportedly in the best shape of his life now, and besides which, Yahoodi said he was slow in 2010...which clearly he wasn't.

I get ya, this about the mythical Buff of three years ago not what he is today. My bad.

Buff had his warts but they were all related to his lack of consistant intensity and poor decision making. Buff is an incredible athlete when you factor his speed and quickness especially for a very large man. The best thing about Buff and the best hockey he ever played was that 2 month period in 2010. I'm sure Pronger and more than one Canuck as well as all Canuck fans still have nightmares about the guy.

Exactly. The conversation started with discussion over Buff's omission from the 2010 Olympic team. Yahoodi said he was too slow to be on that team. This year is a whole new argument, though as I said, he's reportedly in much better shape again.

No..... By all means.....show a clip of one play where Buff gets a 4 stride head start on a defenseman who's standing still......HAHAHAHAHA.....Oh good lord.

Look if you wan get caught up on "fast" or "speed" or whatever, be my guest. But in 2010, Big buff's skating wasn't nearly as good as it could have been. Even he acknowledged it and worked on it. And it was one of the reasons along with his consistency, that got him omitted from the olympic team that year.

YOU find a clip that showed Buff was a poor/slow skater in 2010. The burden of proof is on the one making the claim. Byfuglien was a very fast skater in 2010.

No.

Even if i did. It would just be one clip. That's the point. One 10 second clip does not an argument make.

Look, you love Buff, you think he can fly like the wind, you run with it.

I was at the games, I saw Erat and other Predators skate by Buff. I saw Q bring Brian Campbell back two weeks early against doctors orders because Q trusted him on the blue line over Buff. I'm happy with my opinion.

Hell, you tell me why Buff was left off the roster. You know seeing as how he was a winged God and all.....

LOL ... You sure are making allot of assumptions. I won't deny his foot speed going backwards wasn't great, I won't deny his mobility and agility aren't as good as a smaller quicker player like Erat, but I am talking footspeed forward in a straight line. I saw Buff blow by guys who were good skaters. Is he Stalberg fast? No. Is he Pronger slow? No. In 2010 he had above average speed in the NHL and exceptional speed for a very big man.

And for what it is worth he isn't my hero, my god or a love of mine of any kind. I enjoyed many things he did for the Hawks and I was disappointed in many other things he did with the Hawks. Everything he did to disappoint me had to do with his poor decision making and bi-polar intensity levels.

Sounds like a few of you guys are working hard here to earn a spot as a 4th line poster here. Willing to mix it up...bring energy to the board. I sure hope we can keep all of you...

O yeah! When I figured out that this is about the Buff of 2010 and not the Buff of today, I stepped back.

Hossa out at least 4 exhibition games - upper body injury (back?) - Q says he'll be ready for the last exhibition game.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not but if you're not we just spent the last hour arguing about something we both agreed with.

I wasn't being sarcastic. I think we're just emphasizing small parts of the argument and agreeing on the bigger picture. I will plead guilty to using the term "speed" when I meant his overall skating. But we both seem to agree he was a "fast skater" for someone his size.

Whatever. Helped pass the time.

This is terrifying news. Hossa seems to never be healthy anymore, he said he didn't need surgery over the summer and he was feeling better. Now he's already sitting out games during the preseason.... yikes... hopefully its minor and not related to the problems he had during the postseason.

Sit Hossa until Christmas if he's not healthy. I'd rather wait and have him be 100% for the end of the season.
