Aren't you forgetting the primary assist on the Talbot goal? It was a hell of a pass.

It was almost as magnificent as his assist of the Schenn (it was either Schenn or Cousins) goal in London.

That's what I'd heard, but there was some confusion over it yesterday.

The slide rule can be applied twice, if I am reading this right

In the event that a Player signs his first SPC at age 18 and has had his SPC
extended pursuant to Subsection (i), and such Player does not play at least
ten (10) NHL Games in the second season under that SPC, then the term
of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be
extended for one (1) additional year. Unless a Player and Club expressly
agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional
year in accordance with this Subsection, all terms of the SPC, with the
exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary, games
played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided,
however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all
circumstances.

As most have said, Morin looks pretty good out there. At the very least he doesn't look like he doesn't belong. I hope this doesn't cause them to rush him, I don't think so but our ability to develop Dmen is suspect at best.

The best thing, to me at least, is seeing Hartnell looking faster, back in the mix in positive ways compared to last year. If he could curtail his minor penalty affinity I'd be very happy.

I read that, but I thought there was another paragraph preceeding this one that also applies to him not playing 10 games in his first season as well.

Right, but it's not the slide that's confusing, it's the tryout games. He used up all 9 of his in the 5 game stint at the beginning of last season, according to Holmgler. Some aren't accepting that as sufficient.

It just said that if he doesn't play 10 games, not if he plays zero games.

The confusion is over the number of games. Because the number of games in the Season was shortened, so was the number of games a player can play, before his ELC kicks in.

Common, that goal doesn't happen if Gill doesn't have his head up to see that they've got numbers up the ice and then executes that tricky pass off the boards.

IMO, he was one of the better dmen last night. Do I want them to bend over backwards to sign him? Of course not. But you have to give credit where credit's due.

I agree w/ your assessment on Streit, though. There was one unforgivable play where he inexplicably jumped up into the play in the neutral zone and Morin almost got caught defending by himself when the puck got turned over.

Right, the confusion is among those who do not consider the Flyers front office proficient at CBA interpretation. To be fair, I also would like to know the specific language regarding the shortened season and how the tryout stint is prorated.

Yes, I am, certainly not proficient in reading lawyer talk, but I see no where in there where it says it is 10 games total. To me it reads 10 games each season.

That's the confusion. Holmgren said it's 1 game this year and his ELC kicks in, and some are saying he's wrong.

In my opinion, Gill looked like he's done. His mobility is very poor. Players skate by him down the Wing with ease. He's okay when he's engaged physically, as that is when he can use his size. But even then, he's not as overwhelming physically as he needs to be. And he completely blew the coverage on the Pouliot goal. He looks like a player who's time has come to hang them up. He was far from one of the better defenseman last night.

You're not going to find it in the CBA regarding the adjustment on the number of games due to the strike shortened Season.

I just looked at Mark Scheifele of the Jets. In 11/12, he played 7 games and was sent back to Barrie. Last season, he played 4 jets' games. Capgeek has him listed as having this season, plus 2 more until he's an RFA. So it looks like a player can play on multiple tryouts without it counting towards his ELC deal unless I'm misreading something.

Right, so where does Laughton's five games last season translate to all nine of his tryout games? The language has to be somewhere. There also doesn't seem to be consensus that you can't have a tryout stint in multiple seasons.

Transition rules for the Strike Shortened Season

Accrued Season 40/30 thresholds for 2012-13 pro-rated [48/82]
10 Group 2
10 NHL GP threshold for 18/19 year olds for 2012/13 shall
be pro-rated [48/82].
10 Professional Games threshold for 20+ year olds for 2012-
13 shall be pro-rated [48/82] if Player was locked out. For
such locked out Players, only Professional Games on a
prospective basis (i.e., only games played after the execution
date of the MOU) shall count towards the pro-rated threshold
(i.e., any Games Played prior to the execution date shall be
excluded).

So really, Laughton could have played 5 games and 35 minutes?

I do not how they came to the 5 games, only that it was prorated. I could guess that with a game being 60 minutes, they rounded down.

I know, just kidding. It would be 5.81 games, so yeah, 5 games.

But now I still don't get the Mark Scheifele thing.
