Holmstrom and Vandevelde
- mayorofangrytown

Vandevelde would make it 18 by my count. I had 14, and then added Newbury, Holmstrom, and Wellwood.

Edit: Nevermind, Wellwood sign a minor league deal.

Still missing 1 D

The other 2 better not be Holmstrom and Newbury.
- PLindbergh31

c'mon its the Flyers, are you surprised?

(I agree with you, Newberry and Rosehill seem redundant)

So 5 of the 17 aren't NHL players, and we don't know if Laughton is ready to play in the NHL as of yet.

This Raffl kid on the third line won't go well.

They need to pass through waivers to be assigned, both Newbury and Holmstrom.

Does anyone follow the Phantoms enough to have a guess what the depth chart is going to be this year?

Holmstrom is surprising. Figured he was exempt. I can say I'd have no problem with Newbury moving.

Speaking of which, how the heck did he get only 4 minutes last night? Dorsett cross-checked him and Newbury just started pummeling him, and Dorsett didn't get his gloves off until it was over. I was sure he'd get 2, 5, and 10 at least.

When half the Flyers roster goes down with injuries, they will be icing a real skeleton crew in Adirondack.

I thought he looked OK. Nothing spectacular, but he shows promise. Lots of youth up front if he and Laughton make the squad.

Newbury can actually play at little. In fact, he's pretty much a top 6 guy in the AHL. Rosehill is going to be the Flyers 13th forward/enforcer. I don't like carrying one, but at least he's around half as expensive as Shelley was.

Basically they'll end up with:

19-28-93
10-40-17
25/12/21-14-24
25/12/21-18-36

Either Talbot, Raffl or Laughton will end up as the 3rd line LW, and one of the remaining two will be the 4th line LW. I'd prefer more grit than Raffl on the third line, but it's hardly an awful state of affairs to have.

I would go with Talbot on the third line. He's a proven NHL caliber player. I would have let Mcginn play on the 4th line with Hall and Rinaldo. That's obviously not going to happen now.

Hope they both do. Faceoffs taken by the 4th line typically won't be game changers, so I don't think faceoffs are a good reason to play Hall over Laughton.
- JAKEw1234

But faceoffs taken on the PK, can be game changers. And Hall should be involved in those. I can also see Hall taking key defensive draws late in games. I've read that the Flyers may not want to keep Laughton if he doesn't make the team as a Center. Don't how truthful that is, but it's out there

This is the Flyers. They've yet to meet their quota for preseason injuries and then things will change. Have patience, they'll will get there.

I asked about this the other, do you honestly think they are better with Raffl as the third line wing over Gagne?

As far as grit that is a wash.

Maybe it is strictly down to dollars and cap space, but for my money they are a better team with Gagne there.

I too would much rather see talbot on the 3rd line, especially if he can challenge his first year with the flyers in goals.

I really like Talbot. He's one of those players who truly does a little of everything. Even when he doesn't score, you still notice him on the ice.

Off topic, but did anyone notice that the title of the Flames blog is slightly pink while the title of all of the other blogs in pure white? I thought it was my eyes playing tricks on me until I clicked on the Flames logo up top and looked at the difference in the 2 different title blocks.
