He really is an ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - RileyB77
Man...after all the love shown to him by the fans here, I find that shot to the nuts at the fans and the city to be beyond comprehension. We loved him even in the numerous games he floated around on the ice!
He just took several steps down in my book. Go get him Gudas! |

he did a lot for tampa bay, but just because he did a poop ton of stuff and helped A LOT doesn't make him able to take shots ! this just pisses me off!!!!!!
I hope everything that everyone has been saying about being old and losing production comes true...(frank) philly |

Not making any new fans down here that's for sure. Losing a few I'd wager too. |

We will see how Vinny feels about playing in that "hockey market" if he doesn't live up to expectations. If his career trend continues it's a matter of time and then I'd be willing to bet anything Vinny will long for his days in this "non-traditional" market and not having to expectations and pressure that he walked into. In the meantime in terms of this statement I don't take it quite as personally as you guys, basically I don't take it as a shot to Tampa. I can see how it can be construed in that manner but I don't see this as a huge shot against Tampa and more of a "pump-me-up in Philly" type of statement. Also important to remember that if Vinny had his choice he would have never left Tampa. He signed here to play here, it was the Bolts who said bye-bye. Just my .02 |

True but he didn't state Tampa was great to me. Blah blah blah as a disclaimer to the insinuation so he dropped down quite a few notches for me. First slump and Philly fans will be their usually schizoid selves. Love him on day crucify him the next. |

ANY Half wit knows that a contract like that is just asking for trouble, but Vinny couldn't see past the dollar signs. Bottom line is that if he truly love TBay he would have taken a hometown discount. |

i know what you're saying, but truth be told he is talking like this change is what he has been waiting for for years, and that finally he can play in a "big hockey market, not going to lie" ..... talking about change and how you can feel the town is a big hockey town and its good to play for fans thatll cheer for him not against him and the enviroment that he gets just being in philly...(frank) em im with arty and tpd burnin the jerseys (if i had one i would) |

I agree wholeheartedly but not just for Vinny but for all players. I'm not one to believe that it is my place to tell someone else how much $ is enough. However, in modern day sports with salary caps IF a player truly wants to win vs trying to be paid more than the next guy, it is in their best interest to take discounts so the extra $ can be used to put better talent around him. Vinny's contract was a bomb which is why Yzerman and company sent him away. It wasn't an easy decision and near-term will probably cost us some wins, however long-term this franchise is better off without his contract on the books. |

Remember, he has been in Tampa since he was 18 years old. This is the first time in his "adult" life in a new market. I will cut him a little slack knowing he has some adjusting to do before I start labeling him a Tampa hater etc. He wouldn't have spent all of his time and $ on charity if he truly hated this city |

He's in Philly now. Imagine what Philly fan would say if he opened up about missing Tampa and how great it was etc etc etc. They would have already turned on him saying he's not really a Flyer and his mind is in Tampa. I agree with how Philly fan will be if things go to hell, and if that happens guaranteed he will miss his Tampa days. |

Starting are Fillipula, Purcell, Killorn, Gudas, Carle and Desjardins. No Marty, Stammer or Malone, unlike when they played here two years ago. |

Well, after one the Bolts look like crap. They got some offensive pressure at the beginning and end of the period, but only 2 shots on goal. Three penalties. Koekkoek was a bit out of position and gave up a goal. 1-0 Blues after one. |

Bolts continued to look bad until the late minutes of the second. Erne finished the game with two goals and the put away goal in the shootout. Pyatt had the other goal in the come from behind 4-3 Lightning win. |

Also, Gudlevskis came in halfway through and despite a shaky start made some pretty darn good saves in the third. |
