All I want is two capable bottom 6 lines. If we end up with Weise/Sestito as regular 4th liners again then I'm not too excited about this year unless the second line somehow shocks us all. I'd like to see another game with the younger players playing against a more veteran lineup before I get too excited about any of their chances to make a significant impact this season.
I saw your comments on Ian's blogs about Burrows away from the Sedins, and I agree. Don't think he'll be worth his contract this year if he's not playing with them. - Nucker101
Burrows does a lot more than score goals. He does everything well, you can't say that about most guys. His importance to the team is measured by more than just points. That said, he's still gonna get you 40 points, which is ok by me - if we have a second line pivot getting 50-60 pts and two 40 wingers. Something we've yet to see under Mike Gillis. |

I would take Burrows over Kesler 100 out of 100 times. |

This is Fosco's take on Jensen's play last night and through camp so far (see below). It's amazing the difference in opinion watching the same game. I didn't see the game so have no opinion. - bloatedmosquito
I find it interesting that he's giving Jensen credit for essentially 'doing no harm' in a game between AHL rosters. Playing a sound two-way game is important, but offensive players are expected to balance this with creativity and production - and if you can't do it against this level of opposition, then I'm not sure that it's going to spontaneously start happening against the best players in the world.
Conversely, Shinkaruk not only scored a goal, but was 2nd on the team in shots, 3rd among forwards in ice time, and led the team in +/- on the night. Claiming that Jensen was somehow playing a better game with just 2/3 the ice time, no shots, and no production of any kind is a pretty suspect conclusion. The team was outshot 42-16, with 7 shots coming from the top line - Jensen and Horvat were the next highest forwards in terms of ice time, and I'm pretty sure were expected to provide a bit more than 0 shots between them. |

Totally agree. Shinkaruk was more impressive than Jensen, even outside of the goal he scored. Of course he had better linemates as well so you have to factor that in, but even with the kid line Sullivan/Gulutzan threw together at times, he looked pretty dangerous. Jensen was invisible to me, he's not a defensive forward or a d-man. Being satisfied with a forward dumping the puck in and making safe plays and doing nothing else is AV talk. |

He's a great guy/teammate and fan favourite, and yes he scored that goal against Chicago, but I don't see how a 40 point player(away from the Sedins) that can PK is worth 4.5 million. |

Did Fosco get banned, and I'm guessing it was in response to a well educated, hockey aficionado from the Leaves. |

Last period Jensen was with Burrows and Kes and Skink played with Horvat and Gaunce |

I guess Ian's blog was yanked because it wasn't about hockey, or maybe someone named Todd yanked it. |

I am concerned this year if we pay Burr (Whom I love) 4.5 to score 15 goals and we pay Booth 4.2 to score 10 that is a lot of wasted mney IMO. Hansen and Higgins will bring something close to Burrows at half the cost. |

Any second line guys we can compare him to? Not disagreeing with you, I just don't know who's making 4-4.5 million and getting 40+ points. |
