They haven't picked the design yet, then there is the whole environmental issue being over the St-Lawrence. Best case scenario, construction won't start until 2016-2017

I recall Winnpeg building a bridge over the Red River when I lived in that poophole. Took 2 years. I'm sure that it's not as big as the proposed bridge in QC, but 8 years seems excessive.

It's possibly the ugliest bridge in North America, but they got the (frank)ing thing done in a reasonable time. Marks for that, at least.

3-5B is the project value, it's a complex project but with so many people involved (city, province, feds) and with the private sector funding some of it (PPP), it will take a few years before they agree on something then they will need to find the money.

The bridge will most likely have 4 lanes on both side, plus a special lane for buses AND a railway on it, it will be massive

took about 2 years to build the one across the St.Lawrence Seaway for the Highway 30. It's pretty big

Passed on it on my way home from Toronto a couple of weeks ago. They did a pretty good job on that one !

I was stuck in traffic there the other day, trying to get to Blainville for an Armada game...good God, I think that area as been in construction for the last 8 years...something fishy is going on there. It's not normal.

The $750-million Beauharnois Canal Bridge is a critical component and one of two major crossings along the tolled highway. The Beauharnois Canal bridge spans over the St. Lawrence Seaway, the main shipping route between the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Lakes. The bridge is a 2.5 kilometre-long structure with a gradient of 3.5% that provides the necessary 38.5 metres of clearance above the shipping canal in the Seaway.

The bridge's eastern approach superstructure, including the navigation span, is a continuous steel-concrete composite box girder superstructure stretching 1,446 metres. As of today, the bridge is the second longest incrementally launched bridge in the world, with a total launched length of 1,446 metres, a figure only exceeded by the Millau Viaduct in France. The western approach has a total length of 1,095 metres, with intermediate expansion joints. Constructed with 2-metre deep NEBT beams, the 45-metre spans are among the longest ever achieved in pre-stressed bridge construction in North America

My main concern with the Habs demoting Leblanc is what this does for his status as hockey's reigning affirmative action hire.

Y'a eu 2-3 appels d'offres, le chantier a été arrêté pendant plus qu'un an un moment donné. Complètement ridicule.
