I agree. B squad looked very good. Definitely like how Simmer and Vinny looked last night. Now Hartsy is going to be on the same line tonight.. should be exciting
- justahockeyguy2

Simmer had some rough moments but looked really fired up which is good to see. I feel a lot better about this season compared to last, that's for sure. Jake looks ready to go too.

Yea, the reports are really encouraging. And he's still a kid with lots of room for growth. Both in terms of refining his play, and physical growth. Can't teach 6'6"
- MJL

It really surprised me. I didn't expect him to look like he could step right in. The flyers have the luxury this year not to rush him, but I don't think he's 2 or 3 years away from the NHL as some have stated. All in all I just want him to develop at his own pace. When he's ready, he's ready. Some guys need to be at the higher level to move forward.

Nutter's first chance to watch the crew this season!

Take that money watch it burn.
Play with all the lessons you learned.
Everything that kills you makes you feel alive.
Skate until the heart screams to stop, hit until the bones break and shoot until those horns sound in the deep.

Let's roll!

Holmgren did come out and say that the rumored deal wasn't true. Cleary also said that the he never discussed actual money with the Flyers. But I agree, there is no doubt that Cleary wanted to be with the Red Wings all along. And the Flyers already have a Cup winning veteran for the 3rd line spot in Talbot, as well as some solid options for the 4th line spot. So there clearly isn't any Cap issues. You can't sign every player that comes along. That's the whole point of the Cap.
- MJL

Yeah I agree with that. Do you think going with youth for that role is better than if the Flyers would have eventually signed Gagne. Hope it doesn't end like this ... I still want Gagne to retire as a Flyer ...but oh well ... bridges may be burned on that one!

I don't feel that is the case, that's why I said so. There seems to be the belief that because they don't get the same attention at the NHL level, that they're being overlooked. I disagree with that. NHL teams have qualified professional talent evaluators and Coaches staffed throughout the Organization. They don't get the same opportunities, because they don't earn them. Not because they're not given them, because they're un-drafted, or were a low draft pick.
Certainly mistakes are made. And there are outliers. You could argue that a kid like Sharpe was overlooked and not given enough of a chance with the Flyers. But players who have the ability to be an NHL player, usually find their way there. One way or another. One person's experience doesn't set the standard for everyone.

- MJL

There's a subtle difference here that you, at least from your response above, may be missing. I am not saying (and I don't believe the OP was either) that the undrafted players are being overlooked. Just the opposite. As I stated in previous posts, the high picks are where they are because they've done something to deserve it. Conversely, the undrafted players (for the most part) are undrafted for a reason - namely that they did not do enough to "earn" being drafted.

What I am saying, is that if those undrafted players were given the same level of attention and opportunity, more of them would make NHL rosters than what we currently see. That is not the same thing as saying they are overlooked, or being somehow treated unfairly. They aren't. In a lot of cases, the line between drafted and undrafted players is thin. There are lots of fairly talented undrafted players, since not everyone can be drafted. It stands to reason that if you gave that pool of players more attention, more opportunity, that more of them would make NHL rosters. Not all. Maybe not even most. But more than we see today. That's my point.

But as you and I have both pointed out, that isn't practical or cost effective. Teams pay their scouts and coaches to rank players and coach them accordingly. That's the system, fair or unfair. So the undrafted players do not get as much attention as the high picks. It's a fact of life under the current system. But it seems illogical to conclude that giving the undrafted players more attention/opportunity would not result in more of them making the NHL than we see today.

Well, I think Gagne is better right now then possibly any of the young players. But I personally would rather see the Flyers try and develop one of the younger players, then to sign an older veteran. I think it would be better for the future of the team.

I guess that maybe I'm not explaining myself well then. I don't agree that giving them the same level of attention, would mean that more of them would make the NHL. I think they get all the attention they need. And that they fail to make the NHL, simply because they aren't good enough. And that they fail to earn more opportunity with their play. The cream rises to the top. If you're good enough, someone will notice. Maybe not the current Organization a player is with. But somebody will.
I think we agree on all the other parts of it, such as the practical aspect.

Nope, it takes more then just being tall. You have to be able to play the game. Are you comparing Morin to McCallister?

Always a way.

Search for "myp2p" on google. There are some ads you have to close, but if you have a pop up blocker its usually okay.

NHL can go screw itself if they think I will pay 200$ a year to watch hockey. I've used free online streams for years. Keep the bootleg nation alive!

Yes probably better for development reasons, but shouldn't it be about putting the best product possible on the ice as long as finances allow it?

There is a definite argument to be made, that signing a player like Gagne makes the team better right away. No denying that.

It's definitely closer to ROFL (waffle) than Raffle (as in Raffle tix).
- GirouxForTheShow

A little bit similar to Nödl in that he has decent size/good skating and two-way awareness. Hopefully he will convert more of his scoring chances than Nödl or Mika Pyörälä.

His last name pronunciation is closer to rhyming with "waffle" than being pronounced raffle (as in raffle ticket).

For those wondering.

Any of the myp2p searches on google are valid. A lot of ads, but if you close them things are good.

Seems to be a different site I havent heard of: wiziwig.tv

SO far looks legit, most streams do not run until game time. Good luck, fight the power!
