http://www.thehockeynews.com/articles/53333-NHL-Preseason-Predictions-Metropolitan-Division-No-3-Philadelphia-Flyers.html

This article has the most confused ideas. They said the center lineup of G - Vinny - SCHENN was awesome. Then, despite predicting the Flyers to finish 3rd n the Metro, they also predicted that "For no apparent reason at all, GM Paul Holmgren trades away half his roster by the deadline."

I don't know where the idea of Homer trading young talent for old players came from. He has never done that except for Pronger.

I do like them, but they don't fall into that category of "bands I must see every time they pass through Philly".

I've seen them 4 times. That's plenty.

Sandler on SNL was good.

I liked Sandler in "Big Daddy" and "Happy Gilmore".

After that? Not so much.

not crazy about the 55 though. too much of a linebacker number. Markov pulled it off but Morin is too tall, imo.

thoughts? similar concerns?

- Crimsoninja

I love it. I said I like big Dmen wearing that number and MOAT had to hold himself back from making "jokes"

Eh, even before he got horribly lazy his humor always seemed to be shouting. I remember liking Billy Madison, but then again I was also in grade school.

I think he's completely sold out as a comedian. When he does more serious movies like Spanglish and Funny People, he's funny and engaging.

It's the childish movies that drive me crazy. He makes movies like he's still 20 years old.

I think there is definitely truth to that, but doesn't the fact that the Flyers gave Akeson a pro contract even as an undrafted player go against that status quo? I'm sure there are plenty of players who went undrafted and will never get a chance to prove they are capable of competing in the NHL, but that's why the NHL is considered the top league in the world. The system is far from perfect, but I feel right now, players who may have gone undrafted but had success in college competition are getting more opportunity to compete in the NHL.
- mcefalu

Excellent point. That's very true. Top picks are certainly given more attention from an NHL team then player who are picked lower, or undrafted. That only makes sense. An NHL Head Coach has a job to do in training camp. That's to get the team ready for the NHL Season. He couldn't possibly devote equal time to every player. Nor can the Assistants or the GM's. That's why there is a staff of developmental positions, and AHL Coaches. When and if players like Akeson and McGinn are sent to the AHL. They'll get all the attention they need from the Coaches at that level. Same with a player sent back to Juniors. All overseen by the GM.

i love it. therapeutic. feel the same about washing the car. i enjoy seeing the fruits of my labor, even though it's usually ephemeral because hurricane sandy shows up 5 minutes later and ruins it.

The "Ten" album came out when I was in college. I didn't know anyone that didn't own that album.

That, Nirvana's "Nevermind", and Red Hot Chili Peppers "Love Sugar Sex Magic" will always remind me of being in college.

I'm 25 so college was a much more hipster type scene. I used to resent them, but now I feel at home whenever i venture into a hipster restaurant.

I still love Nirvana and I like the Chilil Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins too. Just hate Pearl Jam.

Funny People was great up until the long, strange ending.
