Yup, then 6 years later you find out there is a missing double "L" in his name.

Adam Hall will help with that too. The assumption is also that Couts and Schenn will get better. Faceoffs are something every young centerman struggles with. It usually takes a few years.

Giroux had his best season when playing with a veteran RW. I think Vinny playing the right side with a left handed sniping shot would score at least 30 goals playing with G.

Voracek would also provide great depth to the second line. He showed good chemistry with Schenn last season (before being bumped up to the top line).

- PhillySportsGuy

Maybe, but I think they're banking on Schenn playing the wing. Plus, I like having a nice 1-2 center punch with Giroux and Vinny.

But, as someone said, I wouldn't be opposed to putting Akeson on that top wing depending on how things go.

I'd be a little nervous about playing Akeson that many minutes. Playing the top line means matching up against the best players on almost every shift.
- PhillySportsGuy

Its not like it's never happened before. A rookie gelling so well with top line players that he makes a spot with them. Look at Renberg.

What I would consider is moving Akeson to top line LW. I know you guys are going to jump on this like stink on poop, but they played well together last season. Giroux has connections with Akeson, and Voracek just said how well he likes playing with him.

Akeson-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Lecavalier-Read
Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds
Talbot-Hall-Rinaldo

Akeson played 1 game in a Flyers uniform last year. So what are you basing that they played well together on, one game? Akeson may never be an NHL player, let alone a first line Winger.

is there anyone else who would entertain the idea of moving Vinny to top line RW and Jake to the second line RW and Schenn to 2C?
- PhillySportsGuy

I wouldn't, and the Flyers obviously see him as a fulltime wing now. He was centered by Cousins against Toronto.

I know they intend on having Vinny play center and Schenn play W. I was just kicking around ideas I would like.

I don't think Akeson can play the top 6 unless there is an injury because it would bump Simmer down to the third line. I think the Flyers would like to use the third line to match up against the best players. That's not exactly simmonds strong point.

Or his Name will have one of those "a"'s with the 2 dots over the top, and I'm not looking up the code for this....

A little bit similar to Nödl in that he has decent size/good skating and two-way awareness. Hopefully he will convert more of his scoring chances than Nödl or Mika Pyörälä.

His last name pronunciation is closer to rhyming with "waffle" than being pronounced raffle (as in raffle ticket).

I dont think it would have to drop Simmer down. You could have him on the second line, but it would be 1 slow line.... Hartnell-Vinny-Simmonds.... But some opposing player is leaving with a bruise after every shift I can tell you that much....

Renberg had size and skating ability, and was a bona fide NHL player from the start. There is no comparison between Renberg and Akeson.

I enjoyed listening to the shootouts on 97.5. Tim Saunders & Chris Therien provided PBP from Toronto and then they transferred to the WFC and their correspondent there reported on the last 4(?) shooters until the Caps won it.

I missed most of the game due to my son's evaluation skate but caught the SO after taking him home and grabbing some Arby's for myself for a late dinner.

Just like Daymond Langkow became Daymond Lang, Co. When he moves into a coaching or GM role he'll be Daymond Lang, Inc.

Please learn the difference between a comparison and an example. I wasn't compairing Renberg to Akeson. I was giving an example of a rookie getting the chance to play with a top line. See the difference?

I don't really want Schenn bumped down to the third line and asked to play defensive hockey against top lines. I want him in more of a scoring role.
