You mean the same scouting and talent evaluation and skillset identification that nets you Andreas Nodl and Michael Ratchuk within four picks of each other, or Kevin Marshall?

- AllInForFlyers

Everyone knows that talent evaluation is not an exact science.

Go on. Please continue explaining to me how Scott Laughton's scouting, talent evaluation and skillset identification are bulletproof, while every other player who didn't make it "had flaws."

- AllInForFlyers

We'll start on this with you pointing out where I've stated anything close to saying that the evaluations of Laughton are bullet proof, and that he doesn't have flaws to his game, or areas that need to be worked on like every other player does.
The recurring theme of your posts, seems to be reading things that aren't there.
In fact I've said multiple times that Laughton is not a guarantee to be an NHL player, and that he has to earn his spot on the team. And it started with your very first post in this discussion. Where you incorrectly tried to state that I said that Laughton should be given a 3rd line spot on the team. You've been innaccurate when attributing comments to me, since your first post.

I don't know about the policing part of your post but you bring up a good point. Often times, ideas that are postulated are met with considerable resistance to the point of being rude. The haughtiness of some and cronies rushing to their side is irksome -- and a trend I've disdained here for at least 2 years. It's why I disappear for a while before coming back.

Okay, I'm done with this one. Enjoy it.
- jmatchett383

I'm not enjoying it. I hope Scott Laughton makes it, because if he doesn't, I'll hate to hear how you guys rip him to shreds for "not meeting the potential we were all told he had."

I assume Flyers just want to see him play a few games in reg season before sending him back, a la Laughton last year. Still don't think Morin makes the team this year.

I said when he was drafted that he'd play in the NHL this season.

I still think he will.

9 games or less.

I'd rather they use his tryout games up when he actually has a shot... a true tryout. Maybe in a year or 2.

Would you still be mad if he was the fourth best defenseman on the team and played 20 effective minutes.

not crazy about the 55 though. too much of a linebacker number. Markov pulled it off but Morin is too tall, imo.

thoughts? similar concerns?

I just hope it doesn't have any Chris Gratton stink on it.

Well if this is the case, no I wouldn't.

But does he beat out Mez, Gus, Gervais, and Grossmann for that 4th best trophy?

Morin is not a #2 pair NHL defensman right now no matter what way you slice it, in my opinion.

That being said, sure- if Laviolette- for whatever reason- used him as a #4 defenseman on the special teams then sure I guess I'd be ok with that. I can't help but being reminded of Luke Schenn though.

So they will send Meszaros and Gervais down to the AHL and sit Gustaffson as a healthy scratch?

I didn't think so at first, but the preliminary evidence suggests you might be right.
