I thought henrique was great, the only thing he could have done differently was to pot those two scoring opportunities he had.
- shvingter88

Lot's of good things to take from it though seeing both guys we need to be corner stones looking like they could be ready to make that next step. I know it's just one pre season game but it's good news so far.

That's why i said he can be better he needs to bury those chances. I'm not worried though it was only the 1st preseason game. He also wasn't exactly playing with any play makers either.

He showed he is able to create offense on his one which gives us some hope that maybe he game be a 30 goal scorer ( not saying he will) but if you are going to be a 30 goal guy you need to get some of those goals on you're own and create plays that aren't there instead of living of other players so it's a great sign for us that he is showing the ability to create his own offense

For sure it is. He did set up that Pesonen guy a bunch as well. For shots at least can't remember how many where legit scoring chances. He played good but i want him to be playing better than good. I'm being hard on him i know. Just want him to reach his full potential.

HAHAHA says the guy who thinks Hank doesn't where monstrous pads. Your the man. Thanks for coming btw.
- NickA

hank wears bigger pads than brodeur but they're not monstrous and definitely not anymore now that they are regulated a lot more. the NYR goalie coach's main focus is making hank look a lot bigger in the net than he really is to take away as much area to score as possible and obviously it works really well.

but now that you guys have schneider, we can start making fun of his monstrous shoulder pads

Moore looked real good. Probably could make the argument he was the best D. Not so much for Staal.
- Rseen

i really liked what i saw from staal. i'll agree he wasn't the best D on the ice but for his first game back adjusting to such a serious eye injury, i thought he was pretty shutdown, covered a lot of ice, skated well, and was aggressive in the offensive zone. larsson looked like a real threat all night, especially on the powerplay.

isn't that the knock on henrique lately though? looks great and creates opportunities but lately, there hasn't been enough finish/production from him?

Go for it Schneider probably uses the same shoulder pads as hank.

Staal definitely played real well considering he hasn't played a game with his eye problem yet. I was just saying Larsson played better last night and I see you understood that.

Pretty much, he needs to overcome that and he will become a great player.

i think a lot of schneider doubters are gonna be in awe at how good a goalie he is.

if deboer doesn't play him as a starter over brodeur, then i think deboer cares too much about marty's feelings because let's be real, brodeur at age 40 is nowhere near as good as schneider who is just entering his peak of becoming an elite goalie. if i were you guys, i'd hope to see 60+ games from schneider this season.

I am with you on the goalie situation but I think what will happen is they are mostly saying Marty is the starter and will give him a good amount of games if he is healthy but I think they are thinking he continues to miss time to injuries like he has the last few years so that will put Corey ahead game wise. It's the nice way of letting everyone thing Marty is starter while still making Corey feel like he is because he likely ends up playing more games when the injuries start kicking in with Marty. It is kind of a crapshoot because less games for Marty should mean he will be able to stay healthier and be fresher but I still expect him to miss time with things getting tweeked (not necessarily injured)

Entirely possible he does play that many games. My only concern would be if we get into the playoffs will Cory still be fresh? Or will he get chased from the net like this past playoffs. He's never handled that type of workload so it's hard to say if he would be good to go or burnt out.

How did you guys feel about Kinkaid I thought he looked shaky at first but its hard when you warm up then sit on the bench for two periods and jump in. He was scrambling around quite a bit especially on the goal but other then that I think he played well.

Literally called that goal 20 seconds before it happened. I saw the forwards we had on the ice and I just knew it was coming.

Was that the Darcy Zajac line with Barch and Janssen and if he hadn't of scrambled like mad and calmed down he could of covered that up a few times I would of loved to see Corey in the entire game but there is no real need for it right now.
