Unless we get something good coming back I dont see us trading Meszy or Coburn.

Meszaros to Florida for Thomas? Not sure how this team will do without some nutjob in goal.

K, yeah I must admit I didn't notice Schenn out there much - which for a defenseman means he's doing his job. so Schenn, Mez and Grossmann looked good. I cracked a smile when Mez cracked a bomb from the point for the first time in FOREVER. While Gill looked slow, Gus shakey, and Lauridsen a step behind the play.
Some of that though could be nerves.
I didn't see as much as I would have hoped from B Schenn... He wasn't bad but I wouldn't have said he was the best forward either.
I also wanted to forehead smack some of their more aggressive players. I was like, it's a frigging pre-season game!

Amen, sister!

Gill's play on the sequence leading to Kadri's goal had me laughing. It's like in my mind he's still sliding out into the streets of London, ON.

He did create a very long, low pylon for Kadri to stickhandle around last night.

I believe that's called a "speed bump"

Enough cap space to stash Meszaros or whoever?

Honestly, I don't think the Flyers are dealing from a position of strength with Mez and might need the cap breathing room more than they need anything else that they'd get from Carolina.

I've been in favor of hybrid icing, or at least trying it, for a while now. I did find myself scratching my head a couple times last night at why it was or wasn't called. Not sure if it's just something to get used to, or if I'm not wild about putting a judgement call on the refs.
- BulliesPhan87

I agree with this. While they're putting decision-making back in the hands of the on-ice officials, can they get rid of the automatic "delay of game" penalty for flipping the puck over the glass and go back to the way it was pre-2005-06? And can they get rid of the diabolical trapezoid, too?

There's a theory that they outlawed jersey tucking this year as a precursor to selling ad space.

I think one of them goes, and considering Meszaros is on the last year of a deal, and there are rumors out of Carolina saying they want to see the player in pre-season games before making move, it leads me to believe it is either Grossmann or Meszaros. And I think Meszaros is more of what Carolina needs with the loss of Pitkanen, he at least has some offensive game. Its a safer move for carolina too, because if he doesnt work out then its only a 1 year deal.

I have full confidence that Meszy will pick right back up at a top 4 two way d-man.

He finally had surgical intervention for his shoulder, and that will go a long way towards helping him stay healthy.

I think he will have a very solid year wherever he plays.

Agreed, but it will offend the pall bearers here waiting to take him to his final resting place.

This is so awesome. Can't remember another instance of a double game day! I want to see Vinny's first game so I'll try to find that online. The Leafs game is on sportsnet ontario up in Kanida.

Again, if he's not worth much, might as well keep him and hope that when either he on Grossmann or whoever go down, you can sub in the uninjured player. No reason to not have 7 NHL-caliber Dmen if you won't get much in return for them.

Also, this is assuming that Gus carries his strong play into this year.

Can we also get rid of the automatic slash call if the stick breaks?
Those shafts break if you look at them wrong way.

Pretty sre that was the plan all along, London's season opens in a couple days.
- Jsaquella

I like he got a chance to play a bit in a game. Nice reward and enticement. He didn't look lost a bit. Which is more than I can say for the jar.
