Yeah, because I look at Carolina's cap, and I don't even think they could take on Mesz, unless they made room?
I really hope it's not Coburn... I know he had a down year, but it feels like the Flyers are almost willing to give him away just to become cap-compliant. Personally, I would like to see Mesz go only because we just don't need him at that price right now. - Flyers_V88
I'm going to go ahead and say I don't think the Flyers will give Coburn away. I think his name comes up because he does have value. It's kind of like the Couturier thing, where teams see him as a player the Flyers might sell low on due to a down season last year. |

Hope so. I'm willing to part with him so long as we get a solid return. At the same time, I don't think we need to move him. I would move Mesz, and sign Gill to a league-minimum deal, and rock that D all year with Gervais and Gill being the 7th men, depending on opponent. |

Cousins was a nice surprise last night.
I thought Mez looked good. He and Grossmann were the only two who didn't look shakey at one point or another.
Both Read and Hartnell had some step in their game. I felt Hartnell was put in a position he wasn't used to, that of a playmaker. He was setting up plays more than you would normally see on a line with G. And Read was all over the ice (in a good way).
I hope Rinaldo is ok. I do want to see more of him this season!
It seemed like Clarkson could use some time in the AHL as he was noticeable but not finishing.
Laughton and McGinn weren't as hot as I would have hoped for. - FlyersGrace

I'd be deadset against bringing in "No Touch" icing, because that would eliminate effort. Hybrid icing doesn't. There's still a race for the puck...it just now ends 10 feet before guys get slammed into a wall - Jsaquella
agreed...hybrid is a reasonable compromise. |

I would rather have Stephen Hawking on defense than Gill. Hawking would at least be an entertaining chirper while providing similar defensive ability. |

You didn't miss a ton. Watching half the team is not that exciting.
Hartnell as playmaker was interesting. Watching Cousins look like a younger, fresher Briere was interesting.
However, there was lots of not finishing, and lots of hits on us and not the other way around.
And at least 3 - 4 odd man break aways. I can think of a couple 2 on 1 and 3 on 2 off the top of my head. - FlyersGrace

Right...except that, on the plays that actually cause injury, where players are neck-and neck racing for a puck and slam into the boards hard, hybrid icing doesn't come into effect. It's only used on clear-cut advantages, and those plays don't result in injuries. It's a pointless rule that only serves to eliminate effort. |

Exactly. Come TDL, you can deal Mesazaros if you're not in the picture, or you can carry 7 healthy D into the playoffs. - jmatchett383

He could create a black hole in the middle of the ice to stop oddman rushes. |

Not sure I'd sign Gill, he looked awfully slow. Otherwise, I'm picking up what you're putting down. |

Oh I like the idea of removing a helmet before a fight. If you think about it, it would be a great way for guys like Rinaldo to avoid instigation. Instead of dropping the gloves first to provoke and get the penality, he can take his helmet off, and leave the gloves on untill..... - youarewrong
Well, if he removes his helmet before the fight now, he gets hit with a 2 minute minor now.
Instigating a fight with a visor is still a penalty, too |

I wouldn't sign Gill to be a linesman, let alone play defense. |

LOL, all the Gill hate! I get where everyone is coming from for sure, hence why I think that he could be a good room guy and 7th/8th man. He's good on the PK. |

You'll never convince that road cone to lay down on the ice on a two on two. |

Well Davies, I was trying to be nice.
Like it'd be mean to say that Cousins had a SICK backhand on the third goal which was highlight reel worthy and I don't think many (if any) of our vets could have matched...
Better?
