I have full confidence that Meszy will pick right back up at a top 4 two way d-man.

He finally had surgical intervention for his shoulder, and that will go a long way towards helping him stay healthy.

I think he will have a very solid year wherever he plays.

Thank you for the professional opinion. (And I'm not being facetious. I was actually wondering if it was good or bad.)

Can we also get rid of the automatic slash call if the stick breaks?
Those shafts break if you look at them wrong way.

- Marc D

Not even that, but they can develop small cracks from slap shots/hard slashes, then minor slashes that do nothing other than bat it away can cause them to finally break.

I like he got a chance to play a bit in a game. Nice reward and enticement. He didn't look lost a bit. Which is more than I can say for the jar.

I thought I had heard/read somewhere that the surgery Meszy had was similar to the type Leclair had in 2000-something when he had the shoulder injury. IIRC, that means it's a reinforcement surgery and not just a simple repair.

I could be wrong, but wanted to get that out there so jak can confirm/deny/rub my face in it.

Exactly. If I ever need to buy another stick (since my playing days are over aside from the annual "parents vs. kids" game against my son's team), I'm sticking with wood. More durable, less money. Sold!

Don't forget shootouts, while we're at it. Can't get rid of those soon enough.

I played with solid 1-piece sticks all my life until I was in my mid-20s. I played for maybe 2 years with the composites. Never liked them, especially for the money. Never got used to how light they were.

I swore the Flyers had "split squad" games before, but that must have been a case of "three games in three nights" in a preseason rather than "four games in three nights" like this week. The only other "split squad" instance I could find was here:

So we're removing:
- touch-up icings
- automatic delay of game
- automatic slash for sticks breaks
- salary cap
- shootouts

Anything else? The trapezoid? Lauren Hart's shirt? Columbus?

I thought they were gone already. I disbelieve them with a successful saving throw every time -- just like the Atlanta Thrashers and the "Star Wars prequels," whatever the Seravalli they are.

Ah, kind of like how I'm quite certain Metallica mysteriously disappeared sometime in the early nineties. Nobody truly knows what happened when their tour bus drove into te fog, but they never came out.

My favorite non-wood stick was a hand-me-down composite shaft that used the wood heels via hot glue attaching/detaching. That was, until I set up in the slot on a power play to screen the goalie and our d-man launches a shot that I thought was going to down me a la Chris Pronger in STL when his heart stopped -- except it never hit me. All of a sudden it's at my feet and I go to shoot it with a half of my stick in each hand. I was all like, "What the Seravalli?!?" and had to drop my stick and head to the bench.

Congrats!

My son has his evaluation skate tonight. It'll be fun finding out what team he's on, etc. in the coming days.

Rumor has it that mutant replicons took over for them while the original band members journeyed to the mystical land of Valhalla where they met the real Ozzy Osbourne.
