blacker isn't making the team and franson will be in there somewhere
liles cap will (frank) us for years

- Sammich

Ranger keeps playing like that, Franson's getting traded.

John-Michael Liles buyout from CapGeek.com (next summer)
◦2014-15: $791,667
◦2015-16: $2,291,667
◦2016-17: $1,166,667
◦2017-18: $1,166,667

Trying to trade him and retain HALF his salary for the life of the contract would be better.

He looked like an NHL defenceman. He was playing against half an NHL team though, let's hope he can keep it up.

Meant to quote about Ranger..

I have a feeling another team is going to come in and sign Raymond before we get the chance.

Yeah, he's an FA. But who? And why? Where'd this idea come from? Just curious

Because I'd like him to be on the team, but realistically, the Leafs can only offer him 1 million. I'm pretty sure another one of the other teams in the league, if he continues to play well in camp, will have no problem signing him to 1.5 or more. I was reading articles on thestar, globeandmail, and torontosun.

ya I think they've only had them for a couple days now. few of the manufacturers didn't have the new spec pads ready for 1st day of camp for a lot of goalies.

not too worried about it. Same adjustment for everybody. Bigger issue for taller goalies though

- Big_Lightnin

His style will have to change, too much swimming around on his knees. He is one of the goalies that that took advantage of a big thigh rise and kept his knees pretty wide in the butterfly. Crawford is another one to keep an eye on.

What teams do you think are interested? And would Raymond want to go to them. And how come, if teams were interested, they havnt made a move yet? Cause they should know time is running out. Every day he seems closer to being a leaf.
Not trying to poke holes and be a jackass here. Just curious about the idea.

blacker played a pretty solid game too and threw a couple of big hits. I dont understand why in the hell this guy is not picked, so pissed off every year he gets shafted and pushed aside when he continuously has good camps and preseason games. What a joke

What!? A lot of people like MacWilliam. And I noticed that Holzer played not bad. I hate him, and know how bad he screwed the pooch last year, but I actually think he played solid tonight. Not amazing. Just not horrible.

I'm assuming if I were GM of another team and the guy was proving that he is still capable of playing at a high rate, I'd inquire about him. I believe GM's weren't paying attention to him before because of his asking price, but obviously it has gone down. Mason Raymond at 1-1.5 million is a great bargain, and I'd have to say he's the best camp invite in the league right now. In my opinion, he should be making 2.5 million normally, I wasn't really expecting a player like him to be a camp invite. Pretty much any team in the league could use a good 3rd line LW, especially with his speed. Just saying, I think Nonis should give him an offer quick.

Fair enough. I think your prices are a bit high, given he hasn't gotten (frank)all at this point. But we might be able to get him for 900k. And I'd be extremely happy.
One of the best players on the ice tonight IMO.

What was he making last season? like 2.4 or something like that?

Edit:He was making 2.6 million, I'm still surprised the guy is a camp invite and that he's reportedly willing to take a million.

Not sure if this has been pointed out in subsequent pages, but where does Gunnarsson fit in?

The guy is arguably a top 3 defender on this team and has been for a good 2-3 years now.
