That Kaleta guy sounds terrifying. I hope the Leafs never have to go up against him.

Yeah Reimer didn't look too hot tonight, I expected better from somebody that is fighting for their job. Can't wait to see how Bernier does.

his nickname should be 5-hole.. you can tell he isn't used to the new pad size yet, everytime he moves around it is WIDE open

He seemed to be on another talent level, then most of the players that the Leafs dressed tonight. I want to see him with the big team for a few games, to see if he can move the puck and make great passes against NHL caliber players. Tonight, he made some good passes, but the AHL/Junior caliber players didn't understand how this guy was thinking. They'd either be in the wrong spot or just miss the play.

On another player, Tyler Biggs doesn't look even close to being ready to compete for a job. He was one of the worst players on the ice tonight.

Overall, my biggest observation was noticing that Cody Franson better get himself back into the lineup. Ranger looks ready to compete for his job, as will Rielly.

- PrinceLH

The Leafs have absolutely no reason to budge on their contract offer to Franson.
They have until the 9 game mark to see if Rielly is going to take Franson's spot, and if so, I'm sure a trade would already be in place ahead of time.
I like Franson...but damn did he pick a bad year to try and play hard ball.
As for Ranger, he's top six guaranteed.

Garth has a new blog up. It's a new low.......almost laughable. Talking about how the Sabres beat up on the Habs......hell, everyone beats up on the Habs....
- PrinceLH

The best part about the blog is that it doesn't mention who scored for either team, with an exception or two, and not once does it mention the final score of the game. Not sure if dumbass updated it since I read it a little bit ago or not.

I have a feeling Garth is going to be ignoring goals and scores a lot this season.

It's hard to paint a rosy picture of the Sabres when they're losing all the time, BetterCallSaul.

2nd that...

if anything Ranger makes it even less necessary for Rielly to make this team. There is just no good reason to rush him. Risks far outway the rewards.

MacWilliam and Blacker were both rock solid tonight as well. Not like Giroux was out there against them, but looked very good.

Disagree, he didn't look as bad as you make it out to be. Took a few shifts off but was apart of the best line all night.

Colborne, Raymond, Kadri, Biggs, Bolland all the best forwards.

MacWilliam looked like a stud, easily the best dman, Carlyle used him like a horse tonight. Ranger looked pretty solid, so did Blacker.

Liles wasn't very good, bad cough up behind the net lead to a goal.

Biggs looked like a deer in headlights to me... which is fine. First "NHL" game for him.

didn't do anything terrible, didn't do anything exceptional.

Kadri SHOULD look great against that lineup.

Gauthier keeps impressing me too. Obviously long way to go, but there's lots to work with there.

doesn't mean he's in the lineup

Blacker outplayed him by a mile, Ranger by 2 miles.

Yeah I noticed Liles too. Poor (frank)er. I want him to succeed. But he's (frank)in up big-time.
I did like Blacker and Ranger as well.

ya I think they've only had them for a couple days now. few of the manufacturers didn't have the new spec pads ready for 1st day of camp for a lot of goalies.

not too worried about it. Same adjustment for everybody. Bigger issue for taller goalies though
