The 7th defenseman, whoever he may be, will be a whipping boy if the team is not successful. I agree about Bruno. Players with limitations need to be put in positions to succeed. It's funny how some will overlook the multitude of issues that contributed to last year's failure and instead zero in on the mistakes an overexposed extra defenseman. Have my doubts about Gill being able to keep up with the game and doubt if he'll make the team.

Not completely true. If you look at the stats the worst Dman was Gervais. Gervais was -17! Second closest Dman was Coburn -10. He only contributed 6 points and was the weakest link on D. Guys like Manning, Gus and Lauridsen performed a lot better than he did. As a 7th guy I want someone you can count on to keep scoring chances down. Gervais does not do that.

Guys like Manning, and Lauridsen did not play under the same circumstances that Gervais played under all season. No such thing as a 7th defenseman that you can count on to keep scoring chances down. If that player could do that, he wouldn't be a 7th defenseman. Bill stated it perfectly on his post earlier. And the poster you quoted also did.

As Bill stated, you don't play 400+ NHL games over a 6 year span, if you can't play the game. You're comparing players who played a small percentage of games, in which the Coach drastically changed how the team played, to a far more conservative defensive style, due to all the injuries. Play Manning and Lauridsen in the same situation Gervais played all Season, and see what happens.

Evander Kane with a beautiful top-shelf snipe. Damn that guy would look good in a Flyers jersey.

DUDE RIGHT?

I hate having to squint til my eyes hurt trying to look at the size 14 font on their helmets

I forgot about hybrid icing. What is it a race to? The bottom of the circle or something?

I think it's just up to the referees to decide if the defenseman's definitely going to get it, or if the forward has a good chance of getting it. If the forward has a good chance they let it play. If the Dman's obviously got it then they call it dead so the dman doesn't get pancaked into the boards.

Kane and Backstrom are the two best skaters out there right now

Did Kane get an invite to the Olympic Team?
He looks so much faster then everyone else in this game.

Belleville is an Olympic size rink, only one I'm aware of not only in the OHL but in any of the 3 major junior leagues.

No he didn't get invited. I have a feeling he has a future on the national team, though.

He just scored for the 2nd time, so I'd say ya. He's making a real good early impression. He's near the top of my list of players I'd love to have on the Flyers. He's just a Flyers type of player.

And that 1st pick still would've almost definitely been Couturier, as it was only 1 pick higher than Columbus's. It's hard to say, and while I do love Voracek, I think I'd still rather have Jake and Coots than Kane and Coots. It's only hard to say because I have no idea what kind of offensive production Kane would be putting up on a line with G.

Just finished watching Couturier's junior team Drummondville crush Val-d'Or 7 - 2, ending the game with 6 straight goals.

Got an early jump on tomorrow's game day blog because I may not have a chance to do a writeup in the morning.

I have listed full numerical rosters for both Group A (Flyers players available for the games in London and Toronto versus Maple Leafs) and Group B (Flyers players who are still in Philly to practice tomorrow and who will be available for the game against the Capitals).
