they're all sh*t. Teams shouldn't have players who can skate and fight n that's it.

if you want a guy that fights, you need a 2009 Ben Eager. Guy who's not detrimental to team success on ice. Brown is bad bad

- TheNugeIsHuge

I mostly agree.

The Red Wings are 2.4 million over the cap:

Subtracting their core guys and the players that they just re-signed, could one of the following be available?

Abdelkader (3 @ 1.8 mil)
Tootoo (2 @ 1.9 mil)
Eaves (1 @ 1.2 mil)
Helm (3 @ 2.125 mil)
Bertuzzi (1 @ 2.075 mil)
Samuelsson (1 @ 3 mil)

- Morris

rumored tootoo or emmerton will be available.

So not true.

While browns skillz are extremely low, he absolutely injected a facet the oilers lacked.
He was high energy, killed some minutes and was physical first and foremost before he ever tried making a play on the puck.

The fighting isnt even part of it, he added a dimension the oilers flat out didnt have.

I just dont understand this never ending, 'get the next skilled guy' to play on the oilers.
Is there actually people out there who think we dont need to be tougher to play against?
Brown is certainly not the answer long term, but for now players like him that csn at least make a few minutes miserable for the opposition is not in any way a detriment to this squad.

Its like some of you haven been watching for the last 5 years.

Chicago was dead last in the league in PIM. Being tougher to play against shouldn't mean 4th line coke machines. A team that's hard to play against is a team that's beating you on the score board, the shot count, and the possession time.

If an opponent lays a big dirty hit on an oiler, someone can step up. Doesn't mean they should have somebody who's only job is to punch faces.

I'd rather have Omark on the roster than Brown, as Omark can actually play hockey.

But he doesnt just punch faces. Thats the point.give him his ten minutes of energy and to run a few dudes.

The only squad that can be successful with a team full of omarks is one that exists in europe.

Omark is decent insurance for injuries, but he flat out doesnt help us with s heslthy roster. Theres just no space.

Omark in no way makes us more difficult to play against.
He just another one of what we already have. Except not as good

Dude, the kids arguement is possession . Brown has a poor Corsi rating and that is u ndeniable. However, Corsi doesn't account for what happens to opposing players after they get mashed into the boards. Do they shy away from the dirty areas? Do they get soft on the puck when they sense someo e coming in on them for a big hit? I know I do, but then again I'm not a pro hockey player. Intimidation, injury, leadership, inspiration ...these are all "intangible's " that people who played the game understand and appreciate the impact they have on the game. They do not however, appear on Corsi stats. At the end of the day, however, Brown brings some good stuff, just not enough to significantly help the Oilers.

plays die on Brown's stick

Omark opens up the possibility for 3 scoring lines.

Energy line=BS
