Ok, here's the deal... NHL14 is awesome. Best one by far. We all know that come black friday they both will probably be on sale for half off ($30)...

So, you have to ask yourself, which one can you wait for. Or can you wait for both? I chose to get NHL and wait on GTA, which IMO was the best decision I could've made.

Its really a lose-lose situation. If Vanek is Captain its a problem and if he's not its a problem. The biggest problem is that each side of the argument is justified.
This is going to be a weird season knowing he and Miller are probably going. Even if it doesn't effect their motivation or how hard they play it will just be awkward while they are still with the team.

On Miller's house. He has a point. If he were to somehow re-sign, he'd probably buy a house in Clarence along with everyone else on that team.

His old place was right around the corner from me. He has told me that he'll never live anywhere in Buffalo besides downtown, and he prefers the elmwood area...

Steve Ott is house shopping in the Elmwood area as well. It appears he wants to stay here, but for some reason the Sabres haven't talked extension w him yet?!

I've been repeatedly saying we need to trade these two ASAP to facilitate a "total rebuild"
But all the talk is true...
The Sabres want to keep both and are trying to sign them...
And that is why they haven't been traded
It's not for a lack of offers apparently
Darcy will not trade either guy until they ask, or refuse to sign an extension...

Anyone else catch Paul Hamilton's comments on WGR yesterday regarding the d pairings? He said it looks like a lock already that the pairings will be:

Myers - Ehrhoff
Risto - Weber
Tallinder - Pysyk
Sulzer

It sounds like Risto looks ready for the NHL now.

lately, we aren't... But that's not on them... Two guys can only do so much... They'd both stay if we could be competitive, which is why u might see guys like Rostolainen & Armia make the team...
Normally, those guys would be Rochester bound for sure to start... But the plan is to try & re-sign them, so you're gonna see the line-up the Sabres think will help them WIN NOW... Bc that's their only chance of convincing them to stay

If Ristolainen makes the team, I think we carry 8 defenseman again... McBain would have to clear waivers, and I think they'd wanna see what they have in him before they consider letting him go for nothing, bc he'd very likely be claimed

Sulzer IMO will be in the A, and McBain will be the 7th. Not sure about those pairings though. That top pair looks like it will get a ton of minutes

I had this same thought. Might be good for Sulzer to go to the A anyway coming off of that knee injury from last year.

The difference is Golisono didnt want to pay them, and he didn't want to pay someone else to replace them. In addition to that we aren't getting a goalie of Millers caliber or a 30 goal scorer in return. Teams aren't just giving those pieces away. Why would they? Were likely getting a basket of prospects and picks like for Pommer, which aren't an apples for apples trade as far as todays on ice product.

My question is why would you let Vanek and Miller walk for nothing when you can get some good prospects and/or picks in return? Your original statement said losing them is not that big of a deal because it frees up about 14 million in cap space. This is true. But if you trade them for picks and prospects, you are still gaining the same in cap space.

McBain and McNabb were paired together and Hamilton was saying that they're looking at this being the #1 pair in Rochester this year. Also, Ruhwedel may be sent to Rochester as well.
