Ill be honest... I will be completely surprised if Raffl makes noise.
- jak521

He was close to a point per game player in Sweden last year. I have no idea how that equates to the NHL.

We are going to find out what he can do. I'm sure he's going to get a long look.

Too me he has to give me a reason to keep him at a higher salary and starting and ELC, without the ability to send down and recall to AHL.

So if he and Adam Hall are considered about the same, then I give Hall the spot because he is cheaper, and as a business I can have the same product for a cheaper price and make Laughton a bit older before he is arbitration eligable or UFA elegible.

Everyone here agrees. To most people that "reason" is that he's one of the best 12 forwards. You seem to want him to be playing at Calder Trophy caliber to make the team.

He was playing in Alleksvan (or whatever it is), which is a step down from the SEL (now the SHL). It's like comparing the NHL and AHL...sorta.

So Jagr leaves camp already with an injury or something, Who seen this coming
- Buzzo

I read he sat out a team scrimmage with general soreness. Not exactly leaving camp.

Yup. I knew he wasn't playing in the Swedish Elite League. If he was playing there and was a point per game guy I would be excited.

For the record, I'm all for giving him, and all players, a long look. But I don't think he has an inside track right now.

Definitely the most intriguing storyline of camp, other than Giroux's wrist.
- bradleyc4

what happened to his wrist?

Why not keep both Hall and Laughton?

So, if you really, truly suck, you will pick lower than a team that only marginally sucks???
- jmatchett383

With the Salary cap no team should be that bad. Plan would be to stop the incentive to tank. A really bad team could have 15 games where their points would count towards their pick. A marginally bad team may have 5. Obviously tie break would go to worse overall record.

Who knows. He's not going to be playing against a full cast of NHL regulars in exhibition games, hard to evaluate a guy in camp when he doesn't have any NHL experience.

It would have been nice to add Clearly because you know what you are getting with him. Now the Flyers may likely start the season with an unknown in the lineup. Which isn't the worst thing in the world.

Apparently the NHL is instituting a new rule that says designated centers can only play center.

Not funny. Not funny at all.

Edit: would have been more believable if you said "injured achilles while rehabbing finger"

Ugh I don't ever want to read "Giroux" and "Achilles' tendon" together.
Never ever.

No, not at all. People are just putting that in my mouth.

So lets look at this. What positions are available. 3rd line wing, and 4th line wing. I know Hall can move to wing, but the reason we signed him was to take the faceoffs.

So to me he has to be able to out-play all the below to get a spot. Not play as well as them, but outplay them.

You guys are redicolous. You can replace Hall with anyone that is on the bubble of making the team. I was just using him as an example.

I don't think Hall has the 4th line Center spot locked up.
