I disagree, I think you really do enjoy agreeing. Even if you don't admit it.

Gagne is not in camp, nor are they going to be signing him according to Holmgren

We should trade him for Adam Oates.

They can always play Laughton at center on the 4th line and Hall on the wing. Hall has played wing several times in his career. They could then have Hall take all defensive zone face-offs.
- PhillySportsGuy

So, who gets bumped off the speculated line 4... Rinaldo or Talbot. I assume Talbot gets the nod and moves up to play the 3rd line winger opening...

Wow, Montreal is really trying to corner the market on small, soft, injury prone forwards

Definitely Talbot. I expect the third line to get pretty heavy minutes. A line of Talbot-Couts-Read can pretty much play in any situation without the coach worrying. I wouldn't want Rinaldo (as much as I like him) playing 18-20 minutes every night.

That would work, though I wouldn't mind Read also getting a shot to play with Vinnie and Schenn on the 2nd line and Simmonds moving onto the line with Coots and Talbot. I have some concerns about the defensive play of a Schenn-Vinnie-Simmonds line.

Good deal. We can really use Rathje's "incredible reach."
- PhillySportsGuy

A lot of folks bust on Rathje... I didn't think he was that bad - when healthy. The problem was he was broken and rarely healthy. And, if I can remember correctly, his salary was too high.

The problem was more along the lines of: Why do you need Rathje, if you are also signing Hatcher and still have Therien under contract? It just seemed like too many of the same type of dman at the time.

He was soooooooo sllllllloooooowwwww. You can only have so many immobile defenseman. Rathje was 1/6 on the Flyers.

Outside of being injury prone, overpaid, traffic cone, Rathje was stellar.

Wasn't the lack of speed a result of the back injury?

Adam Oats was a great player. However, as usual when he was on the downside of his career, when he passed through the Flyers organization. The "Cup Managers" have to get over the vet that doesn't have much left in the tank. Yes, he WAS a great player, and yes he may bring size, but history, and size doesn't help our team. Also, bringing in Randy Robitaille for speed doesn't mean he will do anymore than skate fast up, and down the ice. When will the "Cup Mangers" ever get player development, and patience. We lost Prospal, Sharp, Seidenberg, etc... when we panicked because of an injury they had. I can't wait to see how Hexy will do as GM. When we tried to get Cleary, I just lost faith in Homer. In addition, we will lose Gags to Montreal. And, if we sign Hall Gill, I will lose all control. I also understand why we got rid of Richards, and Carter. They are great players, but their off ice situations were a big issue. I know someone who partied with them, and it was getting out of hand. When that becomes the focus of your career, instead of playing on the ice, then a change had to be made. And, I like our team right now; if we can stay healthy. It also helps that our longer season allows players to recover from their injuries rather than throwing them back in the mix to get injured again; I hate shortened lock out seasons.
That being said, please don't mention Oats, or the '06-07 season again. I am trying to move on, and this doesn't help.

Well he's better than Briere, but he's never going to win a Selke trophy and both Schenn and Simmonds are woefully inconsistent when it comes to defensive play.

I agree with most of this. However, if they sign Gill for one year at less than 1 million to replace Gervais as the 7th dman, because he outplays Gervais, I wouldn't have a problem with that.

I'm just curious which prospect Homer traded away that went on to develop into a great player?

Go through the history of every NHL team over the last 15 years and you will find regretful trades.
