Seems to me that if Adam Hall is truly one of a teams 12 best forwards, that team has problems. I liked that fact that he was resigned, but figured it was for a 13th/14th forward role.
- Quetzalcoatl

I couldn't disagree more. Adam Hall is a very strong on faceoffs, and is a very good PKer, along with bringing a solid checking game as a 4th line player. Every team needs a player like Adam Hall. Especially the Flyers, where Giroux was being overused in defensive situations. Due to being the only reliable faceoff option on the team.

I'm really hoping he does make the team. He should be able to bring more to the ice offensively than Hall, although Hall's probably better at the dot.

On a side note, does anyone know why Mark Alt is not in NHL 14? I know he played in college last year, but he's an AHL player now (well, once he gets healthy). Would you expect him in the next set of roster updates?

They can always play Laughton at center on the 4th line and Hall on the wing. Hall has played wing several times in his career. They could then have Hall take all defensive zone face-offs.

would rather have laughton earn a 3rd line wing job than a 4th line center spot. he needs quality mins or he'd be better being the BMOC in Jrs...the ELC aspect is a factor as well.

I hope the Flyers don't bring the EL contract situation into the equation. It should have zero to do with whether Laughton makes the team or not, in my opinion.

Absolutely. Laughton could play Wing also.

The only reason see it being an issue at all is if there's a "tie" so to speak concerning him and another player. If their on-ice play and strengths and weaknesses make them deadlocked, that's the only time I'd consider it.

If he's tied with a player that can be waived and sent to the Phantoms. Then I would keep Laughton. I don't see worrying about his EL contract starting as an issue the Flyers should be concerned with at all.

I think the best case scenario would be for Laughton to play exceptionally well and start on the third line with Read and Couts. That way no one could complain about playing time or 4th line duties "stunting his growth"

I'd go the exact other way to exercise the slide rule as well as to retain the extra year. Just my take on it. But it's unlikely he's in a dead heat with anyone. I expect it to be fairly clean cut whether or not he's ready.

Couturier sucks, anyone playing with him is going to get 7 minutes a night. Don't you know he was awful last year?

That would be great if Laughton wins that spot in Camp. I'm not real concerned with his overall minutes played if he makes the team. 8 minutes on the 4th line, along with practicing with the team on a regular basis, is better for his development in my opinion, then going back for a 4th year of Juniors. The only thing I wouldn't like, is if he makes the team, and is a frequent healthy scratch.

I have a feeling Laughton is ready. He was so close last year and by all accounts he's gotten better and bigger. I have a feeling he will make it impossible for the team to send him back to Oshawa. Similar to the Couturier situation.

Bill I know its impossible to know, but what do you see and project Laughton to put up offensively thru his career? Would 10-15 goal range be accurate?

I found it pretty bizarre how they completely seemed to shut the door on Gagne.

After a night of partying with Richards... Gagne slept with Homer's wife at his beach house in Avalon, NJ.

I think that's a fairly conservative outlook. I could see him reaching 50 points and 20 goals during certain seasons.

People compare him to Richards and Richie hit 80 points a few times. I think that's a bit wishful though.

I'm not so sure... Line 4 for a rookie - especially if he is centering it - is a lot of responsibility for a rookie. But, I think line 3 would be a lot more pressure to score. This could be tough, if he is not projected to be a huge scoring threat. I'd develop his defensive skills on line 4 at a position he is comfortable with, and allow the offense to develop slower. Line 4 should be plenty of minutes. Maybe get him some PK time as well.
