Did he? I heard between 6.5 and 7.5.
- jmatchett383

I think he wanted more like 7.5 and the blues wanted more like 6.5

Ah. My bad then. Still, I'm surprised it took this long.

Edit: I guess we're kind of spoiled by the Flyers, who never screw around with resigning their RFAs.

I just recently saw Laughton at the King of Prussia mall and I will tell you this, the kid still needs to put on size, he is not very big at all and doesnt have much noticeable muscle. He could use some more time in the gym for sure.

I thought he was approaching 200 pounds?

I'm not. It happened last year, with P.K, and O'Rielly. They are all represented by the same agent.

Seriously? HAHAHAHA. He must be a goober to deal with.
If he was my agent I'd be looking at him sideways. You want someone who can get you the money but not someone who has burned every bridge with every team....

I always saw most hockey players as guys who weren't really built or ripped or jacked or whatever you want to call it. Not noticeably like baseball steroid users players or football thugs players, more just very fit with strong cores.

I can think of lots of interesting places. None appropriate for this forum. So we'll stick to "his shoulders"...

I heard we need some more sandpaper. For league minimum, I will tape some 60 grit to my gloves and face-wash Crosby.

Ya, especially considering the guy couldn't even get Piets the money he wanted, after all that. Same with P.K. Idk about O'Rielly

I actually like many of the Dune movies. But I like the book better.
Another amazing series I just wrapped up for the nth time. Hyperion by Dan Simmons. So good. I go back and read it every few years. It has a lot of the flavor of Dune or Ender's game...
I also like Heroes Die by Michael Stover. For that gamer crowd. Youarewrong would probably love it. Very graphic and VERY well written.

- FlyersGrace

Hyperion is fantastic, excellent writing and a great story too. I also really like S.M. Stirling's Dies the Fire series. Really cool concept and premise in that series.

Some other really good books/series:
Arthur C. Clarke Childhood's End

Stephen King The Stand, The Dead Zone and The Talisman (co authored by
Peter Straub) are my faves by King

Neil Gaiman American Gods

Harlan Ellison A Boy and His Dog (Novella)

and on the lighter side

any of the Callahan books/stories by Spider Robinson

LOTR books are often overhyped. Tolkien was a linguist. His storytelling ability was only sub-par. He was not a great writer, but he had a great vision. And that vision influenced just about every fantasy book out there.
I'll never consider him a great writer, rather a great literary influence.
Dune on the other hand. Nice choice. The book blows every movie rendition away.

- FlyersGrace

I havent read Dune. I'll put that on my next list as well.... I think Tolkein is amazing at world building and verbally setting enviroments. This may turn some people off as being "boring" or slow to read, but to me, it immersed me more into the story. Brilliant writing.

And as much as she doesn't belong in the same breath as Tolkein, I really, really enjoyed the Harry Potter series. As a matter of fact i wish I was 11 when the novels came out.
