Hockeybuzz goes to the movies, hahahaha...
Our next outing.

Just read a full synopsis of Being John Malkovich (I was never going to see it). That's about the border of how far I'd go with a movie. Don't understand it all, but seemed original enough.

Original, yes, but not one of my favorites.
For straight up sci-fi I adore "Sunshine"
For sci-fi / horror: "Event Horizon" is still the bar to beat.

Event Horizon seemed scary. I always liked The Descent.

When I want to smile sci-fi horror I pull out Aliens (that's the 2nd one in the series).
"GAME OVER MAN!"
EDIT: Descent was the girls in the cave? A touch whiney for me...

Did Shelley come out of retirement yet to take over Cleary/Gagne's spot?

I agree, as long as you took it as light hearted as it took itself a great story.
I named the greyhound who just passed away Corbyn (mostly for Korben Dallas - although who spells it like that!)
EDIT: And good horror films should creep you out! That's the point.

I don't consider any of the Alien movies to be horror except for the original. They can be intense, but they're more action moves to be.

Descent was a bit whiney, but that first shot of the mutant thing scared the poop out of me.

The only thing I'm going to say about Orson Scott Card's political views is that most people born in 1951 or before are going to be conservatives.Have you read Ender's Game? A really, really good book. It can be read as a light read for the fun of it or you can get sucked into some of the rather dark questions that the book brings to light. Sure you can read it as if it's Harry Potter, but it's so very not. I just hope they don't screw it up.
Sam Raimi I've enjoyed some of his work but he doesn't hit me in the gut. Some of Guillermo's images give me nightmares. The man breathes creepy/beautiful. I feel most of Raimi's work has been more geared towards mainstream. Which is not a bad thing, he makes more money and influences more people that way. I just see him more as a stepping stone to the dark side, he just doesn't live there.
Glad to know you liked firefly, I adored it!
Check out Dollhouse, I know sounds dumb but is really quite good.

First let me say there is a difference between Republican and Conservative. Second you above statement tends to be correct because unlike most younger people, the older generation has experience and wisdom on thier side, instead of lazyness and emotions. And third I'll let the late great Winston Churchhill say it in his own words. “Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains."

Recently I've really been enjoying the 15 year old "Solera Reserve" by Glenfiddich. Very smooth, with a nice peaty touch and clean finish.
