Ken Holland is officially an idiot...his & Babcock's man crush of a useless veteran is costing this team the promise of youngster's playing time who earned it in Grand Rapids. This is such BS...too much blind loyalty to someone who doesn't even deserve it.

Really? Over that contract? We wish.

Hasn't your team made the playoffs the last 20+ years? I would trust the Wings management if I were you.

Doesnt deserve it??? Your a total (frank)ing joke. If you were a real fan you may have the right to say you disagree with bringing him back but that he doesn't deserve it? You are a douche. Holland is one of the best gm in the league if not the best, your calling him an idiot? Cleary was a key component in multiple cups for the wings. Say that you think they shouldn't have signed him but don't call him an idiot or say Dan Cleary doesn't deserve a 1 year deal.

I'm sorry, did Cleary change his last name to Franzen in 2008 during the cup run?? Didn't think so...his only playoff year contribution was 2009, and we know how that ended. It's starting to become more clear that people such as Scotty Bowman & Jim Nill were more of the brains behind the scenes than Holland since they are gone, and the more mistakes Holland seems to be making (Cleary, 1st rounder for Quincey, Franzen contract, etc...). The youngsters that are ready and have a bigger upside, deserve a roster spot more than he does, take off your rose colored glasses and see that....

The beginning of the end for the Wings didn't have anything to do with Nill or Bowman leaving. It was simply the retirement of one of the top 5 defenders of all time. It'll get worse when Datsyuk goes too.

It was a great run...one of the best of all time. But the end is in sight I think.

I'm not ready to say the run is "over" just yet, but at the same time people have been saying that along with "The Wings are too old", for about 10 years now, so I'm used to that.

I just don't care for the decisions Holland has made as of late, makes zero sense in the big picture in my opinion.

I am sorry but the early birds didn't get the worms this year. MacT signs Gordon for 3 million almost on day one and lets numerous better centers go for less. One, Antropov even to the KHL stating he had no suitors. Then Hainsey takes a 1 year 2 million dollar contract with some fairly decent career numbers and still at a decent age. One might argue in his prime.

MacT signs Belov who has poor numbers by KHL standards although he is suppose to be good off paper and Grebeshkov who was never good as an Oiler and we just thought we would try him again at 1.5 each. You can't tell me Hainsey wouldn't be a perfect fit to the Oilers 6 roster spot playing with 3.5 million man Nick Schultz. Even if he got hurt we would still have Potter and Larsson looking to fill in.

Cleary signs for roughly what Jones and Eager get. Which would you rather have? We need grit but Cleary can play center and wing with a better face of percentage than most Oilers and we start the season with a Center missing.

I think the wings and the Hurricanes did well with these signings. Oh and MacT is coming close to being a worse GM than he was a coach and I can't think of a worse coach.

You guys can still trade for Matt Niskanen.
