Game 1 so far...
Glenny already has 2 goals. Him, Stajan and Stemper are by far the most dangerous line on the ice. Nemisz also has a goal. All 3 were scored on Joey Mac.
Berra hasn't really been tested, but he's stopped everything that's come his way.
SOB is super vocal out there, clearly embracing the role of leader and mentor for the young guys.
Sieloff's playing with a real edge, not lining guys up for the big open ice hit, but definitely playing tough along the boards and in front of the net.
Corban Knight's playing with David Eddy and Paul Byron... makes me think he hasn't necessarily locked up a spot yet.

I hope the plan is to keep that line together again, this year. They will definitely be handling all the tough minutes.

How is Poirier looking with the pro's? Still a ways away?

Since I was there too, I'll step in here. Poirier held his own very well. Not saying he's not a ways away, because he is, but he definitely didn't look out of place today. |

but how does glencross compare to Gio for captain?
I think both would be pretty good
yes, gio had an off year last year....but the whole team kinda sucked
still want to make sure he can play in Hartley's system....i don't mind going with all alternates to start the season

I'd go with Gio over GlenX
GlenX plays better with an edge to his game and a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Having a C on his chest might take a bit of that edge out of his game.
Right now the reason I like Gio as a captain for the team is because Gio earned his way the hard way into the NHL. Not by draft, but by working hard and making himself betterr (not saying all players don't do that...but its a different route). Thats an attribute that would be great to rub off on the young core.
I'm not saying GlenX doesn't have that....I just think Gio is the better fit. |
