WOW someone thinks highly of themselves.....

It's the reality. I've spent the most time and actually have read and studied the CBA multiple times. I could provide to you the actual Dollar figure of the Flyers current off season Cap picture. It's not gloating, it's just the truth.

That is Bill's statement. Every single NHL team has the same restraints of the Salary Cap. No team, including the Flyers, has an unlimited amount of cap space to sign anyone they want. The Flyers could have chosen back in July to sign Cleary then, and not sign someone else. That is the whole point of the NHL Salary Cap. You can't sign every player under the Sun! To ignore that, is to ignore the whole reason the Cap exists.
- MJL

Right..... but not every team operates right up against the cap. Not every team has had to let players go because of the cap. Like Gagne to TB and Upshall for Carcillo. The Cap was a problem.

And not every team's problem with the Cap is being at the limit... some teams have trouble being at the minimum... thus the lockout.

Yes... it was Bill's statement... Let me hear you say it was wrong.....

(sighs)
Weber's cap hit is 7.9 million, of course they would need to move salary to get him. Plus I'm pretty sure Nashville is going to want some players back in that deal not just picks and prospects, so what is your point?

Most teams don't have a guy who can't play making almost $5m. But Philly and Boston do, so they have to work around it.

Said yes to what question Bill? That the Flyers lack of Cap space prevented them from immediately signing Cleary to a contract? I haven't disputed that.

Those player moves happened in the past. And have zero to do with the Flyers current Cap situation. Why would I say that Bill's statement is wrong, when it isn't?

No, it's not. You can't sign every player under the Sun. Every single team is limited by the Salary Cap, including the Flyers. That's the whole point of having a Cap. That a team like the Flyers, with the huge financial backing they have, can't run roughshod over the League, and sign every player they can get their hands on. That's how parody is created. And how player salaries are kept in check. At least that's the idea behind it.

You think they have a Cap problem because they have 100 bucks to spend, and can't buy 120 bucks worth of merchandise.

Fact. Flyers wanted to sign Cleary.
Fact. Flyers tried to get Cleary to come to camp.
Fact. Flyers couldn't sign Cleary because of Cap. Straight from Homers mouth.
Fact. Cleary signs with Detroit instead.
Fact. Flyers couldn't sign someone they wanted, because they have Cap issue.

We are not saying they are having issue with the Cap structure... They are having Cap issues... as in they spent too much, and now can't get what they want.... And school is now over...

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. I see how your trying to turn this to make it seem like you are right..... But its not going to work. Flyers spent thier 100 bucks. Put back the 20 dollar product and told the cashier they are going to the car to get the extra 20, and the next person in line buys the 20 dollar item. BOOM.

And that is how its done.

They haven't spent too much. On what basis are you saying they spent too much? That they couldn't sign more players? Every team has those restrictions in place. From the Salary Cap Upper Limit, to the roster limits, to term limits, to reserve list limits. Your basis for saying they have a Cap issue, is that they couldn't exceed the restrictions of the NHL Salary Cap. It goes against the very basic and fundamental principals of the Cap.

They didn't get Cleary, because he decided to go back to Detroit. And he took less money to do so. That tells you that's where he wanted to be all along. the Flyers absolutely could've signed Cleary. They just had to wait until Oct 1 to do it.

I'm just dealing in the facts and how the NHL Salary Cap works. With the understanding that every team has the same amount of money to spend, and there are limitations on how much every team can spend. And that a team just can't go around and sign an unlimited number of players.
